Silvia shook her head. “I know Neil locked you up these past few days. He didn’t do anything to you, did he?”
Blanche seemed shocked, and she took a couple of steps back.
“H-How did you know?”
“You’d been absent from work for a few days, and I couldn’t reach you. So, I asked someone to find you. After I discovered that Neil’s men had taken you, I made plans to save you last night. But Neil assured me that he would release you this morning, so I left.”
Seeing that Blanche was unharmed, Silvia finally felt relieved.
Blanche bit her lip. How could she tell Silvia about her humiliating experience?
“No… Mr. Remus didn’t do anything to me.”
“That’s good to hear. By the way, I heard that your brother intentionally caused an accident by pushing Neil’s mother into the road. That’s why Neil hired someone to capture you. Were you aware of this?”
Blanche stayed silent for a moment before she nodded and said, “I heard about it… I hadn’t seen him in many years. I never expected him to do such a thing. But he mentioned that someone from the Stark Family ordered him to do it.”
Silvia frowned. She had heard of the Stark Family during her time in Imperial City. It was one of the city’s eight prominent families, but its members were known for their ruthless approach. They would suppress their competitors maliciously until they went bankrupt.
More than ten families had suffered the same fate at their hands. Therefore, they had a negative reputation in Imperial City.
Nevertheless, it did not diminish the family’s formidable influence, and very few in the city dared to provoke them.
Suddenly, Silvia recalled what Neil had mentioned about the secret key. Had the Stark Family sent someone to deal with Melanie because of it?
Her expression changed at this realization.
Blanche noticed that something was off with her and quickly asked, “Miss Pond, are you okay?”
“That’s pretty much it, Mr. Remus.”
Neil nodded. “I understand. Thank you.”
Once the doctor left, Neil looked at Melanie. “Mom, are you feeling okay?”
“I’m okay. If you’re busy with work, you don’t have to come and see me. The caregivers will look after me.”
“Alright. I’ll buy you some porridge. The doctor said you should stick to a liquid diet until you’re discharged.”
After he left, Melanie called the person who had been sending her the messages.
