Silvia frowned and spoke impatiently, “Neil, we’re divorced. I don’t think I owe you an explanation.”
“Sil…”
Silvia did not give him a chance to say anything else. She walked into the mansion and slammed the door shut.
Neil’s expression darkened. He took out his phone to call her, but it suddenly rang.
Right after he answered it, the housekeeper from Harmony Yard spoke.
“Mr. Remus, Madam Remus would like to see you.”
An hour later, he stepped into Harmony Yard and instantly heard Abalene’s voice.
“Neil, I heard that you approached Silvia again.”
Neil froze for a while before he quickly walked toward Abalene and sat across from her.
“Grandma, I agreed to divorce Sil, but that doesn’t mean I’ll let go of her.”
Abalene frowned and said, “Shouldn’t you consider her safety? Don’t think that you’ll be able to protect her. People from Imperial City are targeting you now. If you continue to approach Silvia, you’ll only put her in more danger!”
Neil took a deep breath before he looked at Abalene and slowly said, “Grandma, we’re divorced. Perhaps she’ll fall for someone else after some time.”
“If she falls for someone else, it just means you weren’t meant to be. In the past, I asked you not to learn about the secret key, but you insisted on getting involved. Are you trying to get Silvia involved too?”
Neil remained silent for a few seconds. His eyes were full of resentment, and he subconsciously clenched his fists.
“Can’t I be with the one I love just because I carry the family’s mission?”
“You can’t! On top of that, you’ll have to think of a way to make her give up on you. It’ll be better for both of you.”
The housekeeper shook her head in silence and went downstairs.
Abalene woke up early the next morning. She saw that Neil was still sitting in the same position on the couch. He clearly did not sleep last night, and she felt sorry for him.
“Neil—”
Before she could finish speaking, Neil interrupted her. “Grandma, I’ve made up my mind. I won’t pester her anymore.”
Even though Abalene saw the determination in his eyes, she did not feel good about it.
“Neil, I’m glad that you’re thinking this way. You and Silvia were never meant to be. When she loved you, you didn’t love her. Once you loved her, she decided to leave you. You’re not destined to walk the same path.”
Neil closed his eyes and tried hard to ignore his heartbreak.
