Dr. Irving did not say anything else. He left after he gave Ryan Arthur’s medicine.
As Ryan was getting ready to leave, the butler stopped him and said, “At first, Mr. Anderson was happy that you were bringing Miss Pond back for dinner. But you really shouldn’t be in a relationship with a married woman. Your grandfather is just looking out for you!”
“What do you mean?”
The butler sighed and explained, “This afternoon, Mr. Remus visited. He told your grandfather that he hasn’t divorced Miss Pond yet and that they’re just having issues. He hopes that your grandfather can help keep you away from Miss Pond.”
Ryan felt a surge of anger. No wonder Arthur’s attitude changed abruptly. It turned out that Neil was causing trouble behind the scenes!
“I get it now. I know what to do.”
“There are plenty of socialites in Ryoln City. Why do you insist on being with Miss Pond?”
Ryan left the mansion without responding.
He gave Silvia a call, and she picked up right before her phone stopped ringing.
“Silvia, I’m sorry about today. I didn’t expect my grandfather to treat you like that.”
Following a brief silence, Silvia’s calm voice came through, “It’s okay. But do we still have to pretend to be a couple?”
Their one month together would come to an end in a few days. Although Silvia could repay Ryan if she endured it for a while more, she felt a little tired.
“Yes.”
When she heard Ryan’s response, she said, “I understand. Is there anything else, Mr. Anderson?”
“No.”
After the call ended, Ryan planned to confront Neil straight away. But soon, another idea came to mind.
Neil had been acting boldly because he and Silvia were not officially divorced. If they divorced for real, he would have no right to interfere in Ryan’s pursuit of Silvia.
Seeing the hope in his eyes, Silvia nodded. “Sure.”
They then finished their meal in silence. Ryan reluctantly said goodbye and drove away after he sent her home.
As Silvia’s figure gradually faded from his rearview mirror, his gaze turned solemn.
After his car disappeared, Silvia walked toward her mansion. As she reached the entrance, someone unexpectedly came out from the corner.
Realizing that it was Neil, a hint of displeasure flashed in her eyes. “Neil, do you have to keep bothering me like this?”
The moment she finished her sentence, he grabbed her wrist.
Silvia looked up and met his furious gaze.
“Why did you ask the security guard to keep me out?!”
