“Fine. If you’re apologizing on your girlfriend’s behalf for offending me, I’ll accept your apology.”
Neil’s eyes turned colder, and he scoffed. “Alright. I won’t bother you two any longer.”
After he left, Dulcie glanced at Silvia and whispered, “Sil, you haven’t moved on, have you?”
“Why do you say that?”
“When he spoke to you, you seemed a little tense.”
Silvia lowered her gaze and said nothing.
Dulcie sighed. “Sil, if you still have feelings for him, maybe you can consider giving him another chance.”
Having witnessed the ups and downs of their relationship, Dulcie knew that Neil held a significant place in Silvia’s heart.
Silvia smiled and changed the subject, “Didn’t you say that you wanted to go shopping? Let’s go.”
She seemed somewhat distracted throughout the evening.
After she returned home, she got ready to shower. Just then, she received a call from Ryan.
“Sil, did I wake you up?”
Silvia walked out to the balcony with her phone and nonchalantly replied, “No. I’m not asleep yet. What’s the matter?”
“Well… my grandfather wants to meet you tomorrow. Could you join me for dinner at the Anderson Family’s mansion tomorrow night?”
It had been two weeks since she pretended to be Ryan’s girlfriend. They had been interacting more frequently, which was not a good thing for both of them.
“Let me think about it, Mr. Anderson.”
“Sure. Take your time. Just let me know before noon tomorrow.”
After the call, Silvia returned to her bedroom and took a shower. Then, she did some reading before going to sleep.
The next morning, she automatically looked out the window after she woke up. Neil’s car was not there anymore.
She drove to her company once she got ready and had breakfast.
As she passed by the guard house, the guard expressed concern, “Miss Pond, your husband’s been leaving early and returning late. Did you two have an argument?”
Silvia frowned and instinctively asked, “Has he been coming over every day?”
The security guard nodded. “Yes. He didn’t come back for a few days, but apart from that, he would return around midnight and leave around 6 a.m.”
After a moment of silence, Silvia said, “We’ve broken up. If you see his car, don’t let him in.”
The security was stunned for a moment, but he soon appeared serious. “I understand. I’ll ask my colleagues to patrol the area around your mansion every day. They’ll look out for any suspicious individuals.”
Sensing that the security guard might view Neil as a threat, Silvia smiled and said, “There’s no need for that. He won’t harm me.”
