Meanwhile, Arthur said to Ryan, “At this age, I don’t wish for much. I only hope that you’ll settle down soon. If you could give me a great-grandchild, I would have no regrets when I die.”
Ryan frowned. “Grandpa, today’s your sixtieth birthday. Let’s not jinx it by talking about stuff like that.”
“How is that jinxing? Remember when you promised me that you’d marry and have children early? But look at you now! Forget having a woman by your side, you’ve never even had a female secretary!” Arthur glared at him and scolded.
Ryan was speechless.
Since he was silent, Arthur hesitated briefly and softly asked, “Ryan, be honest with me. Are you not interested in women?”
Ryan spent most of his time with Neil and the others. He did not spare women a second glance or exchange pleasantries with them. Therefore, Arthur had been suspicious for a while.
Ryan appeared annoyed. “Grandpa, I’m straight!”
“Then explain! Why haven’t you had a girlfriend all these years?!” Arthur grumbled. He was determined to set Ryan up on a blind date.
“I haven’t found the one for me.”
“Since you haven’t found that special someone, today’s your chance. Almost all the single socialites in Ryoln City are here for my birthday party. Look around and pick one. I’ll visit her parents and discuss your engagement tomorrow.”
“Grandpa, I’ll fall in love and choose my wife on my own,” Ryan said helplessly.
Arthur’s face fell. “I’ve allowed you to do that for many years, but look at you now! You still haven’t found anyone! Today, you have to pick someone here, or I’ll disown you!”
Ryan scanned the hall irritably and stopped when he saw Silvia. She was sitting in a corner while lost in thought.
He had noticed her the moment she entered the hall. She looked exceptionally beautiful tonight. Unfortunately, he could not stare at her too much as it might reveal his feelings for her.
“Grandpa, if I still don’t have a girlfriend by your next birthday, I’ll agree to go on a blind date.”
“Delaying won’t change anything!” Arthur said angrily.
“I’m not trying to delay things. I mean what I say.” Ryan looked at him sincerely.
David was rendered speechless.
At that moment, Neil approached them with a cold expression.
“Neil, is it true that you and Silvia broke up?” David passed him a glass of wine and asked with a mischievous grin.
Neil glared at him. “That’s none of your business.”
“I just think that your love life’s pretty rough.”
Neil’s expression grew colder, and he said, “Regardless of the process, we’ll eventually be together.”
David chuckled. “Don’t be too confident.”
“You’re quite chatty today. Has Isla agreed to be with you?”
