“Sil, Neil just got back from a business trip. Aren’t you two supposed to be all lovey-dovey right now? Why are you staying over at the company? Did you guys have a fight?”
Silvia paused for a moment while she signed a contract. She looked at Dulcie and said, “If you have so much free time, secure more business deals for us. Once MY Corporation successfully gets listed, we can take our time to gossip.”
Dulcie quickly shook her head upon hearing that. “Nah, I’m very busy. Once you’re done signing that contract, I need to grab it and head straight to work. I have a lot on my plate!”
She lowered her head and pretended to be busy, but Silvia smiled and did not call her out.
Dulcie took the documents and left in a hurry as if she was running away from a dangerous situation.
After the office door closed, Silvia put down her pen and stared blankly at the documents before her.
It had been a few days since she left the mansion following her argument with Neil. They never even texted each other during this time.
Silvia still felt a little upset. If Neil had come to cheer her up, she might have offered him an olive branch.
Thinking about it, she suddenly felt irritated again.
Buzz!
Her phone on the desk rang, and she quickly picked it up.
When she saw that it was a call from Winston, a hint of disappointment flashed in her eyes.
As soon as she answered it, Winston’s somewhat serious voice came through.
“Silvia, Chris has been trying alternative medicine for a week, but it doesn’t seem to be effective. He still needs surgery to remove the blood clot.”
Her expression changed, and she promptly said, “Send me the latest medical report!”
“Alright.”
Meanwhile, Curtis updated Neil on Chris’s condition.
Neil was displeased. “Keep searching! I’m sure there’s a doctor who’s confident enough to perform surgery!”
Curtis sighed. “Mr. Remus, we’ve reached out to the top neurologists. If they think there’s only a ten-percent chance of success, the other doctors will suggest an even lower percentage.”
“As I said, keep searching! If we can’t find one, increase the offer! We must do everything to save him!”
If Silvia found out that Chris died from saving her and that Neil had been hiding it from her, she would never forgive him.
Neil became anxious again at the thought.
After a moment of hesitation, he picked up his phone and sent Silvia a message.
[Sil, let’s have dinner together. I’ll be waiting for you at our usual spot.]
