Chapter 41

Do you know I have a meeting to attended?he growled.

I picked her up long ago.Olavir scoffed. You on the other hand kept having meetings. I decided to bring her to you

1 felt awkward standing behind Olavir so I peeked my head a little. There was a man to meet him despite my heart pounding loud against my chest.

seated at the head of the table. I slowly went up

Hi,I tried to smile. I’m Evelyn.

To say Merhold was handsome was an understatement. He had the kind of looks that would leave you staring at him, unable to look away. Just by looking at him, you could tell he was a successful man. He had on an expensive watch. I knew that watch. There were only about ten of it in existence.

For him to have itit meant he was basically swimming in riches.

Merhold’s eyes widened when he saw me. I watched as his shoulders sagged down and he slowly relaxed. His eyes had softened and it made him look gentler than he’d initially appeared.

He turned to his attendees. You can all leave. The meeting’s over for today.

They all trickled out of the room in seconds. Merhold turned back to him. His eyes held all the things he wanted to say but it seemed he was finding it hard to start.

I could still feel the warmth from him. I could see it in his eyes. He was happy that I was finally home.

Brother, I’m home.

Merhold’s eyes remained on me for what felt like eternity. I wished I could enter his mind, peruse it so I’d know what he was

thinking.

I could tell by the glint in his eyes that there was a lot he had to say. There were a lot of things on his mind. His moved to say something but held back.

Instead, a small smile broke out on his face. Welcome home, little sis.

Without another word, he closed the distance between us and pulled me into a warm hug. I closed my eyes, allowing myself to sink into the warmth of his embrace.

It was hard fighting back the tears that threatened to push themselves to the surface. I was finally home. I never thought I’d get to experience the love that was familial love. Not until now.

Aww,Olavir cooed. You must have missed her so much.

I couldn’t see Merhold’s face so I didn’t notice the glare he sent to Olavir. I let myself enjoy the hug while it still lasted. It was obvious how much he missed me, with the amount of force he’d put into the hug.

After a while, he eventually pulled away. Merhold was like a still water. Calm and steady. He exuded this energy that just made me calm down by being in his presence alone.

He cleared his throat and extended his hand to me, the small smile still on his face.

Hello my dear sister. He smiled. I’m Merhold. First son, and your big brother.

I couldn’t help the smile that made its way to my lips. Nice to meet you, Merhold. I’m happy to be back.

And we’re happy to finally have you back as well.He glanced briefly at Olavir before turning back to me.

I’m sure you already know this but I’m an

Architect!Olavir jumped in, a blinding smile on his face..

Merhold’s an architect. He added, his gaze fleeting to Merhold’s for a brief second.

Merhold cocked his head for a moment before he turned back to me. Yes, I’m an architect.

I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was up but I decided to push it away. If Merhold himself said he was an architect, then why shouldn’t I believe him?
