Buried by My Alpha Crowned novel Chapter 120

Chapter 120

Judging by how his eyes seemed to flicker to mine every now and then, I could tell how he actually felt deep down.

From a distance, I could see a man making his way towards us. As he got closer, I could recognize the familiar look of his face.

Halven.I called out excitedly.

He exuded an understated elegance that spoke volumes without him having to try. He wore a fitted cream cashmere sweater. Underneath, the collar of a crisp white shirt peeked out, casually unbuttoned at the neck.

He had on some slim, fitted trousers in a complementary shade with some leathery loafers to pair.

His gaze flickered through all of us. The whole group was tired after a long daysride. He turned back to me, a look of annoyance in his eyes as he went back to them.

You made my sister exhausted all for this trip.He scoffed.

We didn’t put her through any stress.Askhan tried to argue.

And yet I didn’t ask you a thing. My brother retorted.

I wanted to go, Halven. Don’t say that.I tried to hold back my laugh.

That doesn’t matter. I don’t like the fact that they’ve made my sister so tired.

What are you doing here?I asked him, unable to hide the surprise in my voice.

Halven turned back to me, a small smile resting on his lips as he gently stroked my head. The rest of them couldn’t leave their posts. I had to do the most splendid deed of accompanying my sister.

Don’t you have anything to do?I asked.

The smile never left his face as he spoke. Have you forgotten what I do?

A thought occurred to me that Halven was an arms dealer. I still remembered how he’d dropped a missile to celebrate my homecoming on the day he came home.

That explains it.I turned back to him, unable to hold back the smile resting on my face.

He sent a nod of acknowledgment to Arthur. The Elder nodded in reply, a calm look on his face.

Let’s head in.Halven said to me.

He led us into the castle, Askhan keeping pace with him. It was taking a lot to hold back the laugh that was playing at my lips.

Flags bearing the royal family crest fluttered from their peaks. They all looked incredibly vibrant against the muted stone.

Inside, the great hall was a testament to opulence and power, with vaulted ceilings adorned with wooden beams, walls hung with rich tapestries, and chandeliers dripping with crystals.

Long tables lined with carved chairs filled the space, and a roaring hearth at one end bathed the room in a golden glow.

Beyond the main hall, winding staircases led to lavish chambers, secret passageways, and observation towers offering sweeping views of the surrounding forests and hills. I

It was a fortress and a home, a place where the weight of history and the whispers of legend lingered in every stone.

We were all pretty hungry from the trip so dinner was immediately arranged. I’d expected it to be something simple so I didn’t get my hopes high

I had severely underestimated it.

The dining hall was a masterpiece of opulence, its high ceilings adorned with glittering chandeliers that casted a warm, golden glow across the room

There was a grand table that stretched up to the length of the hall. A deep crimson cloth embroidered with intricate gold patterns was draped osta si

There were a bunch of centerpieces on it, lush arrangements of flowers and tiny fairy lights that twinkled like stars.

The air was heavy with aromas of a feast: roasted meats infused with herbs, rich gravies, and freshly baked bread.

Let’s eat.Askhan said with a smile.

I took my seat at the table and began digging into the food. Dinner was up to the finest standards, better than anything I’d expected.

When I was done eating, I headed back to the living room with Halven. It still felt like I couldn’t completely take in the whole place.

Halven’s wolf was as elegant and brutal as Halven himself. It’s silver fur seemed to reflect the moonlight as it sauntered gracefully from one spot in the castle to the other.

Easy there.Halven said to his wolf as it continued to move around.
