“No way.” Askhan had a bright smile on his face.

“I can’t believe it. She was able to contact you?” Ilaclor turned to me, a look of excitement on his face.

“That’s awesome news, Evelyn.” Froste had a smile on his face as he continued. “This means your wolf’s joining the fight too. She’s trying her best to reach out to you by all means.”

I looked down at my hands, unable to hold back the smile that tugged at my lips. Despite how bleak the situation had seemed some days ago, I’d found a way to contact my wolf.

She’d come to me, reached out in a bid to tell me ‘Hey, I’m still here. Please don’t forget me‘.

“I’m honestly so happy she was able to get to me.” I said, unable to hold back the smile on my face.

“That’s honestly great, Evelyn. I’m happy for you.” Haelor had a sincere look on his face.

I sent him a smile, unable to hold back the giddy feeling I was getting as well. Askhan had an odd glint in his eyes.

I could tell he had other ideas in his head as he made his way to me. There was a mischievous look on his face as he began to speak.

“You think I can talk to your wolf? I have a couple of things I want to ask.”

“Askhan.” Halven said in a warning tone.

The prince ignored him and went on. “So, I want to know something. How much do you like me?”

I looked at him in surprise, unable to muster the next words to say. Just as he was about to get his own wolf out, I grabbed his hand.

“Enough fooling around, Askhan.” I said to him, still not sure of what was going on.

Askhan huffed, sending Haelor a weak glare when he chuckled. The mood of the place seemed lighter now, more free than it had been when we first started the journey.

“Crap.”

I turned to Arthur who had a solemn look on his face. Froste and I shared a glance as we made our way closer to him.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, already dreading whatever he was going to say.

“This phenomenon is not a good sign.” He said in a grave tone.

“How is that possible?” Halven stepped closer to him.

“It’s likely whoever is behind this already knows that we are aware of this sealing thing. They intend to use their power to kill Evelyn’s wolf.”

“What?!” Halven’s eyes widened in shock and anger.

Arthur went on. “The most important thing now is for the Investigation Division to find out who actually leaked these things out. At the same time, they need to find out what evil power those people are using to kill Evelyn’s wolf.”

Just as I opened my mouth to speak, I felt a sharp pain in my chest. It brought me to my knees before I realized it. Hearing my wolf wail in agony did little to ease the pain.

My whole world was swimming and it seemed there was nothing to do about it. I could barely focus on the sound of Halven calling out my name in concern, or Froste reaching down to hold me,

“Scout the area, now!” Halven ordered his wolf before turning back to me.

Arthur did the same with his wolf before regarding me with a look of concern. It was hard focusing on anything other than the pain that wracked my body. Not a moment later, the wolves came back.

Halven spoke with his wolf for a while before turning back to me. “There’s a magical formation. Just up ahead.”

Haelor tightened his hands into fists. “They’re close.”

Froste nodded. “Then we’d better hurry.”

“Damn it.” Froste cursed under his breath..

He carried me in his arms, hurrying to the given destination. I was barely holding on to my consciousness as the pain coursed through every inch of my body.

It hurt to even do something as simple as breathing and I was sure froste had already caught wheezes.
