Chapter 4
Chapter 4
“But won’t this upset Evelyn? After all, this is your entire pack fortune,”
Cassian froze, as if just realizing I was there, and quickly said:
“Evelyn, don’t take it the wrong way. My mother and I agreed to name Annabelle’s child as my heir-that’s why the territory transfer makes sense.”
“It’s something I had to do. You can’t have kids anymore, and I can’t let the Graves line die with me. All my hopes are on little Orion now.”
“I knew you’d understand, right?”
My ears were ringing as I stared at Cassian in disbelief.
“What did you call him?”
He froze, then looked down, unable to meet my eyes with obvious guilt.
Orion was the name Cassian and I had chosen together for our future child-symbolizing strength and guidance. I’d dreamed of that name for eight years.
How many nights had I cried out “Orion,” praying for our lost pups to return to me?
And now he’d given that sacred name to his child with Annabelle.
How could he be so… heartless?
‘Orion. Alpha Cassian chose it himself-it means strength and guidance.”
Annabelle answered with mock innocence.
I couldn’t take it anymore.
They could torture me, hurt me, but how dare they desecrate a mother’s love for her children like this.
lunged toward Annabelle like a woman possessed, ready to tear her apart.
3ut with my paralyzed legs, my desperate effort only sent me tumbling from the wheelchair.
Margaret looked at me with disgust.
‘Pathetic. Look at you-crawling on the floor like some broken dog. If I were you, I’d have ended it already. The Moonvale Pack’s cursed with a Luna like you.”
Cassian moved to help me, but Annabelle suddenly clutched her chest with a pained expression.
‘Cassian, I’m engorged. It hurts so much.”
Cassian immediately swept her into his arms: “Let’s get you upstairs.”
They disappeared into the bedroom while Margaret picked up the sleeping child, glaring at me.
‘Well? Are you going to make dinner, or do you expect me to hand-feed you?”
I struggled back into my wheelchair, my nails digging into my palms.
Enjoy this last meal.
After tonight, I’ll make every one of you crawl before me in repentance.
After preparing dinner, I scanned the living room but saw no sign of Cassian and Annabelle.
I wheeled toward our bedroom and froze, my blood turning to ice.
The sounds coming from inside were obscene.
Brough the crack in the door, I could see Annabelle half-naked in Cassian’s lap.
Chapter 4
“Cassian. Isn’t this thrilling? Your mate is right outside.”
Bad girl, look at you, stirring me up like that.”
soft moans turned into shameless gasps.
My stomach turned, but I forced myself to grab my phone and hit record.
They were too lost in each other to notice me.
At dinner. Annabelle was unusually attentive, constantly serving me food.
“Evelyn, you’ve been running around cooking while the rest of us were resting. You just had a miscarriage-you must be exhausted. Eat a little more.”
After eating, my stomach churned with nausea. I wheeled myself out to the courtyard.
I don’t know how long I sat there before a glass vial labeled “Seventh” shattered at my feet.
She laughed maliciously: “Evelyn, how was dinner? How does your pup taste?”
Something in my mind just snapped. I instantly realized what she meant-and stared at her in utter disbelief.
“Look at you! You’re like a dog-no, a crippled dog. I can’t stand the sight of you. If I were you, I’d have killed myself already instead of living in such pathetic shame.”
“You’ll never compare to me. So what if you’re his mate? He loves me desperately, enough to murder seven of your pups for me.”
“I actually have lab access, but he was worried about contamination. He insisted on using your unborn children for my treatments.”
My body shook uncontrollably as I charged at her in my wheelchair, but Annabelle slapped herself twice and fell backward into the flower bed.
“Ahh!”
The next second, my wheelchair was overturned.
Cassian’s eyes blazed with fury as he glared at me.
“Evelyn, how can you be so vicious!”
Annabelle sobbed as she accused me:
‘I saw she was upset and came to comfort her. The moment I mentioned the baby, she said I was showing off and attacked me, then pushed me into the thorns.”
Cassian’s expression darkened.
‘You can’t have children yourself, so you’re jealous of Annabelle? I never thought you were this kind of person!”
I stared at him with pure hatred.
‘My children were murdered by you both! Cassian, how long are you going to keep lying to me?”
