The moment those words were spoken, the whole room fell silent. No one here wanted to get involved in anything messy.

“If you’d rather not stick around tonight, you’re free to leave. No hard feelings,” Vincent said, his voice low and even.

Truth be told, Vincent had only arranged this gathering to make a point for Stephen. He wanted to prove that he and Tyrone were still on good terms—if Tyrone invested, Stephen would have no choice but to hand over both his shares and control of the company. But if these people were too afraid to get involved, then there was no point in keeping them around.

“Look, Mr. Lawson, it’s not that we don’t respect you, but Tyrone is right in the middle of a storm right now... We just can’t afford to get dragged into this,” someone spoke up. “Besides, something’s come up at home—my wife just had a baby. I really should get going.”

When Tyrone returned, he found Vincent sitting alone in the private dining room. He didn’t look surprised; if anything, he seemed to have expected it.

After all, he was only here tonight to talk business with Vincent.

“You need to take control of Lawson & Co. as soon as possible,” Tyrone said, frowning, pushing Vincent to speed things up.

The last thing Tyrone needed was for Lawson & Co. to become another threat.

“I’m working on it,” Vincent replied with a nod.

“There are too many eyes on me right now—not just your family, but a whole host of others. If something happens to me, I’ll need you to look after Alicia,” Tyrone said quietly.

He had to be prepared for the worst.
