Rejected Luna Returns with Secret Twins (Lysandra) novel Chapter 62

Chapter 62

You want me to hand it over right here?He raised an eyebrow, following my gaze.

I spotted them thenthree Silverblood Pack members positioned strategically around the lobby, pretending to read newspapers or check their phones. Their attention, however, remained fixed on

  1. us.

I grabbed Alaric’s hand and tugged him toward the elevators. Not here.

As we stepped inside the empty elevator, I blinked dramatically and lowered my voice to a theatrical whisper. Oh, we definitely can’t do it here. Who knows if Silverblood spies might suddenly leap out from behind the curtains and swap my Lunaris Essence for blueberry juice?I feigned a horrified

expression.

Alaric’s stern face cracked, a reluctant smile forming. Five years, and your sense of humor is still

bizarre.

The way he looked at mewith equal parts exasperation and deep affectionbrought back a flood of memories. My brother, finding me near death at the pack border five years ago, my body weak from pregnancy and blood loss. How he’d carried me to safety despite not yet knowing I was his sister. The fierce way he’d defended me against pack members who questioned my presence, announcing to everyone that I was his longlost sister, a Ravencroft by birth.

You’ll always have what you deserve as my sister,he’d promised when we first reconnected. All the love and protection I couldn’t give you before.

And he’d kept that promise, becoming not just my protector but a father figure to the twins, stepping in where Tristan should have been/

The elevator doors opened on my floor. We headed to the front desk first, where Alaric booked

another room for himself, then went to mine.

Mom’s worried about you,he said as we entered.

I poured him water from the minibar and settled into the armchair across from him. I know. I talk

to her every day.

He accepted the glass, studying me over the rim as he drank. You’re coming back to Moonshade

tomorrow?

I nodded. Tomorrow evening,

Let’s go home together,I suggested, searching his face.

Alade shook his head. No, I have some business to attend to.

My heart sank, Ric, please don’t provoke a confrontation with Tristan.

A cold smile touched his lips. Don’t worry. I have no intention of seeing that selfimportant failure of an Alpha. This is strictly business.

His hand dipped into his jacket pocket, producing a small glass vial filled with shimmering silver- blue liquid. The way it caught the light reminded me of moonlight dancing on water.

I took it carefully, my fingers closing around the cool glass. Thank you, Ric.

The vial was tiny, but the Lunaris Essence inside was incredibly potentpowerful enough to strengthen and restore a weak inner wolf. I’d studied its properties extensively, fascinated by how it

reinforced the connection between human and wolf consciousness.

Alaric stood, crossing to the door. Anytime. Get some rest now. I’ll see you tomorrow.

I walked him out, relief washing through me. I’d expected a lecture about staying in Silverblood territory, but he’d been understanding, treating me like the adult I was rather than the frightened,

broken woman who’d stumbled into his life five years ago.

My phone buzzed for the third time as I navigated morning traffic toward Silverblood Pack Hospital.

Dr. Rylan again, no doubt checking if I’d obtained the Lunaris Essence.

I’m on my way,I assured him when I finally answered. Twenty minutes, tops.

The hospital loomed ahead, its modern glass facade gleaming in the morning sun. I parked and tried

calling Dr. Rylan back, but he didn’t answer. Strange.

I dialed Isolde instead. Where are you? I can’t reach Dr. Rylan.

They’ve moved Fenris to a special treatment room, she explained, her voice tinged with anxiety.

Fourth floor, east wing.

How is he?

A pause. The doctors say the Lunaris Essence will only help his inner wolf. They need to check something else. After it’s absorbed into his bloodstream, it should help him recover his connection with his inner wolf quickly.

I’ll be right there.

The elevator felt painfully slow as it climbed to the fourth floor. When the doors finally slid open, I

hurried down the corridor, following the signs to the east wing.

Isolde sat on a bench outside a set of double doors marked Special Treatment, her silver hair pulled back in a simple knot. Her face brightened when she spotted me.

Tristan stood nearby with several highranking pack members. Security personnel lingered at a respectful distance. I noticed Varian watching me with undisguised curiosity.

Do you have it?Isolde asked, rising to greet me.

I reached into my bag and pulled out the vial. In the hospital’s fluorescent lighting, the liquid seemed even more vibrant, swirling with currents of its own making.

The pack members around us stared at the shimmering substance with undisguised awe.

Where did you get that?Tristan’s sharp question cut through the reverent silence.

I ignored him, squeezing Isolde’s hand instead. Fenris will be fine, Isolde. Don’t worry.

The treatment room doors swung open. Dr. Rylan emerged, dressed in white scrubs, mask hanging loosely around his neck, hands still gloved.
