What did you just say? Isolde’s brow furrowed. Rare? Are you saying it’s unavailable to us? My husband built Scherblood Pack to its highest starkimeter and my son continues to make it the strongest pack in the region. And you’re telling me a treatment is difficult to obtain?
Mrs. Wolfbane, please. Dr. Rylan’s tone was placating. That’s not what he meant. Lumaris Essence can only be created by specialized heaters. It’s a su compound developed by Dr. Eldreth Frostwhisper for therapeutic purposes. Even if we contacted his pack, we couldn’t reach him easily?
Llistened patiently, remembering my brief meeting with Eldreth at the Moon Ring Council. Fenris had fallen asleep under the injection’s influence, his breathing shallow but steady, Isolde’s eyes glistened with unshed tears.
‘Don’t worry about the treatment, I said after taking a deep breath. ‘Til handle it.”
Shocked silence followed my statement. The doctors exchanged glances before one spoke up.
“How can you say that? You don’t even know the formula, do you? Lunaris Essence isn’t something just anyone can prepare.”
Another added, “Exactly. We’ve tried contacting Dr. Frostwhisper multiple times, even just for consultation. Yet here you are talking about providing his treatment?”
I ignored their comments, focusing solely on Dr. Rylan. He raised his hand, silencing the medical team. As chief physician, his authority was absolute.
“Are you certain, Lysandra?” His eyes searched mine.
The doctors looked between us, confused by his apparent trust in me.
“Yes,” I answered confidently.
Dr. Rylan glanced at Isolde standing behind me, then nodded. “If Lysandra can help us, we might save our former Alpha’s life.*
“Lysandra,” Isolde’s voice quavered. “Do you really have a way to obtain this treatment? Will you truly help Fenris?”
I nodded, and she embraced me, her slender frame trembling slightly. “I don’t know how to thank you. After everything that happened, you’re still willing to help us.”
“I’ll do everything I can,” I promised.
“I’m notifying Alpha Tristan to come see me as soon as possible,” Dr. Rylan announced. “I need to discuss the treatment plan with him.”
Isolde smiled faintly. ‘Fenris will recover soon, won’t he, Rylan?”
His eyes met mine, as if I were the only hope for Fenris’s recovery. I nodded subtly, and he mirrored the gesture toward Isolde.
“He will.”
Relief washed over her face as she returned to her husband’s side. The other doctors busied themselves adjusting equipment while Dr. Rylan lingered near
‘I should go,” he said. “I heard an old friend returned to Silverblood Pack today, and I’d like to see her.”
I smiled, understanding his intention.
After the doctors left, I stayed with Isolde, watching Fenris sleep. Her fingers never left his, as if she feared he might slip away if she broke contact,
“Do you know how to create Lunaris Essence?” she asked eventually. “Or how you understood those medical reports?”
‘I’ll explain everything later,” I replied, “For now, I hope you’ll trust me.”

Chapter 40
She sighed, lines of worry etched deeply around her eyes. “I have no choice but to trust you. My husbands will is fading away
A pack member arrived with lunch for Feniis and Isnide. I stood, preparing to leave.
Join me for lunch, Isolde invited. “Tentis is sleeping anyway, so I’ll be eating alone.
‘You enjoy your meal,” I said. ‘I need to meet with someone. I’ll be back in an hour.”
I slipped out of the room and found a pack member waiting with the white lilies I’d bought for Dr. Rylan, which Fd nearly forgotten during the medicat crisis.
Thank you for keeping these safe,‘ I told him, taking the flowers and heading toward the elevator.
Inside, I pressed the button for the floor housing the chief physician’s office. When the doors opened, Dr. Rylan stood waiting, apparently on his way somewhere. He smiled as he stepped inside.
Hi,‘ he said simply.
With just the two of us in the elevator, I felt some of the tension from earlier dissolve.
“Hi, I replied, smiling back. “I was just coming to see you.”
“Why didn’t you come sooner? I’ve been waiting.” His tone was light but held genuine curiosity.
“I didn’t want to interrupt your work.” He chuckled at that. “Actually, I didn’t want to leave Isolde alone in that emotional state.”
His eyes flickered to the flowers, and I immediately held them out to him.
“These are for you. I can’t express how grateful I am for everything you did for me five years ago.”
Surprise flickered across his face at my gratitude.
“Your chil- he began in a low voice.
“They’re thriving,” I interrupted, knowing exactly what he was asking.
He studied me for a moment before the elevator chimed and the doors slowly opened. We stepped out, and I was about to leave when he caught my arm.
“Lysandra, have lunch with me.” The invitation hung in the air between us, Dr. Rylan’s eyes fixed on mine with an intensity that brought back memories of the darkest night of my life–when he’d helped me escape Silverblood Pack with my secrets intact.
