A flicker of amusement crossed his eyes.

Then, to my shock, Tristan extended his own claws and lightly dragged them across my arm. The sensation made my skin tingle, and I involuntarily twitched in his arms.

“Having a giant wolf form and possessing all the skills–that’s the power of Alpha Tristan,” he said with a self–satisfied

smirk.

I stared at him, wondering how this man could possibly have the strength to defeat anyone. Was he the Moon Goddess’s

favorite?

I looked away, trying again to free myself from his grip. Tristan simply tightened his arms around me.

“Trust me,” he said, his voice suddenly calm and seemingly sincere. “I know the way. I’ll help you get back to your

assistant.”

He retracted his claws, and I’d already withdrawn mine.

I decided to stay quiet. Arguing was clearly pointless, and if he really knew how to get back to the car, I might as well let

him lead the way.

Suddenly, a distant voice called out: “Boss? Where are you?”

“That’s Serena’s voice!” I exclaimed, my heart leaping with relief.

“Relax. We’re heading there now,” Tristan replied coolly.

I stared at him in surprise. How did he know where the car was? Wasn’t he deep in the forest? Then a possibility dawned on me, and my eyes widened in realization.

I started pounding his chest again with my fists. “You did this on purpose, didn’t you?”

“What?” he asked innocently.

“How do you know where I was going? You planned this! You were right by the road, trying to lure me in and trap me.” I accused, my voice rising.

Tristan winked at me. “And you fell for it!”

“Put me down right now, you scoundrel!” I shouted.

Ignoring my protests, Tristan continued walking toward the light of the road. As we emerged from the trees, I saw Serena standing beside a tree, calling my name, nearly ready to venture into the forest to find me.

When she spotted us, relief washed over her face, quickly followed by shock as she registered that Tristan was carrying me. Her cheeks flushed red when she noticed his bare chest, and she quickly averted her eyes.

“Put me down,” I hissed through clenched teeth, my voice low and furious.

Tristan paid no attention to my demand. He walked toward the car where the driver was waiting outside. The driver

immediately opened the rear door, and Tristan carefully helped me into the seat before closing the door. He turned to Serena, who had followed behind us.

“Take care of your boss,” he told her. “Her leg is injured.”

Without another word, he turned and walked back toward the forest, his figure disappearing into the darkness.

“Boss, his back is bleeding!” Serena whispered through the car window.

“We shouldn’t care,” I replied flatly, watching the direction where Tristan had vanished.

I kept my expression neutral, but inwardly, I was confused. I didn’t understand why he had helped me tonight. He could have left me to die out there.

Serena placed a hand on my leg, then opened the door to check my “injury.” She looked thoughtfully at the blood on my

ankle.

“What exactly was he talking about, boss? Maybe he saw blood and thought it was yours. Did you step on something sharp in the dark?”
