Chapter 88
Chapter 88
“Deck, are you okay?” Declan asked. He turned his head and saw Jennifer looking at him with fear in her eyes. The cold sharpness in his gaze softened slightly.
“Jennie, I am sorry. I did not mean to scare you,” he said.
Jennifer forced a smile. “It is fine. I will clean up the floor.”
“No need. Just call the caregiver to take care of it later,” Declan said.
“Alright,” Jennifer replied.
She stayed with Declan for a while longer, only leaving carefully after he had fallen asleep.
As soon as the hospital room door closed, Declan opened his eyes. He made a call to Patrick, asking him to come to the hospital.

“Mr. Richardson, you are finally awake. Richardson Group’s stock has dropped several points over the past few days, and the entire company is on edge,” Patrick said.
If Declan had remained unconscious any longer, some of the more scheming shareholders might have already started making their moves.
Declan frowned and spoke in a low voice. “Tell me the company’s current situation.”
After listening, he was silent for a moment before instructing, “Tell the public relations department manager to hold a press conference this afternoon. I will attend in person.”
Rumors were spreading online that he was still unconscious and that Richardson Group was leaderless. As long as he appeared in public, those rumors would be instantly disproven.
Patrick hesitated, looking at Declan with concern. “Mr. Richardson, you have just woken up. You should rest for a couple of days first. I can have the public relations department announce that you are awake. Given your current condition, you are not in the best state to hold a press conference.”
“Fine. In that case, have someone take a few photos of me awake and post them online. That will make it more credible,” Declan said.
Once he had settled this matter, his expression turned cold. “Have you found out who was behind the accident?”
Patrick’s face darkened slightly, and he responded cautiously, “Not yet. The car used a fake license plate, and it later entered an area without surveillance, so we lost track of it. The investigation is still ongoing.”
Declan nodded. “I see. How is Peter?”
“Peter was seriously injured as well, but none of his vital organs were damaged. He mainly suffered from excessive blood loss. He woke up yesterday,” Patrick said.
“Okay,” Declan replied.
Upon noticing that Phoebe was nowhere to be seen, Patrick’s eyes flashed with curiosity. “Where is Ms. Greene?”
“She went back to rest. You should go back to work,” Declan said.
For the next few days, Phoebe did not visit the hospital. She had already reviewed Declan’s leg examination report and knew that his other injuries needed to heal first before his leg could be properly treated.

Chapter 88
Since Declan was no longer in critical condition, she figured her presence would only irritate him, so she chose not to go.
Meanwhile, Declan’s temper grew more and more unpredictable.
On the day of his discharge, he coldly called Phoebe.
Phoebe was in a meeting when she received the call. She stepped out of the conference room to answer. “Mr. Richardson, is there something you need?”
Declan let out a cold laugh. “Phoebe, do you have any sense of responsibility as a wife? I have been in the hospital for so many days, and you have not cared at all. Jennie has been the one taking care of me this whole time.
“Now that I am getting discharged, are you really expecting Jennie to take me home?”
Phoebe pinched the bridge of her nose. “Did you not tell me not to come?”
“Oh, so now you decide to listen to me? But when I refused to divorce, you were determined to go through with it anyway.” Declan said.
Phoebe was momentarily stunned.
After two seconds of silence, Declan spoke
wy, “Come pick me up from the hospital.”
Then, he hung up without waiting for her response.
response.
Phoebe put down her phone. Thinking about how she was partly responsible for his accident, she took a deep breath and walked back into the conference room. “That will be all for today’s meeting. We will continue tomorrow.”
