Chapter 89
Chapter 89
As soon as she finished speaking, Adrian sneered sarcastically. “Must be nice to be the president. You can start a meeting whenever you want and end it just as easily. Unlike us, no matter how many urgent matters we have, we still have to drop everything to attend.”
Phoebe glanced at Adrian and raised an eyebrow. “Mr. Turner, if you cannot speak properly, then just keep your mouth shut. If you have what it takes, go ahead and take my position as president. I will gladly adjust to your schedule.”
A flash of anger crossed Adrian’s eyes as he spoke indignantly. “Ms. Greene, everyone here has seen your work attitude lately. Because of you, several company projects have been delayed.”
Phoebe chuckled and arched an eyebrow. “If I remember correctly, the only project that got rejected was yours. All the other projects are progressing as planned.”
Adrian’s expression instantly darkened. He slammed the table and said, “Ms. Greene, since all the shareholders are here today, I want to ask. What exactly was wrong with my project? Why did you reject it?”
Phoebe remained calm. “There was nothing wrong with your project itself. However, Miracle Youth does not have the financial capacity for such a large initial investment right now. What we need is not high–risk, high–return projects but a steady and stable approach.”
Adrian was about to argue, but Phoebe did not give him the chance. She turned and strode out of the conference room.
By the time she arrived at the hospital, an hour had passed.
Declan’s face was so dark it looked like a storm was brewing. He stared at Phoebe coldly. “It takes only thirty minutes to get here from your company. Why are you just arriving now?”
Phoebe rolled her eyes. “I had to sort out my work first. Or do you not know that traffic can be unpredictable?”
Declan’s voice was icy. “Did you not say you were just a cleaner at Miracle Youth? What work does a cleaner have besides cleaning?”
Phoebe was momentarily speechless and simply lowered her head to pack his things, refusing to engage further.
As she was tidying up, Declan suddenly spoke. “Dr. Robinson told me that my leg might never recover. Imay have to rely on a wheelchair for the rest of my life.”
Phoebe’s hands paused for a brief moment before she responded indifferently, “Once your other injuries are fully healed, then we will figure out how to treat your leg.”
“Okay. You probably already know. I got into this accident while on my way to notarize the divorce papers,” Declan said.
Phoebe put down the clothes she was holding and turned to look at him. “What are you trying to say?”
“Until my leg is healed, you will move back in and take care of me,” Declan said.
Phoebe frowned. “That is not possible. I have my own job. I can hire a caregiver for you.”
Declan let out a cold laugh. “Do not worry. I will not interfere with your work. You just need to take care of me before and after work each day.”
Phoebe hesitated for a few seconds before finally nodding. “Alright.”
Now that Scorpion had set his sights on Declan, staying close to him was the best way to keep an eye on him. If anything happened, she could react immediately.

Declan had not expected her to agree so easily. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes. “Also, I will not divorce you until my leg is healed. Otherwise, once you get the divorce certificate, you might disappear completely
Phoebe glanced at him indifferently. “Understood.”
Phoebe, why are you being so cooperative today?” Declan asked.
Phoebe ignored him. She quickly finished packing, helped him complete the discharge process, and brought him back to Grandview Villa.
Since moving the wheelchair upstairs would be inconvenient, Phoebe temporarily cleaned out the master bedroom on the first floor for Declan. She planned to stay in the adjacent bedroom.
Declan frowned. “You are staying next door? What if I need something at night? How will I call you?”
“Just call me on the phone,” Phoebe said.
“And if you are asleep and do not answer? We have to stay in the same room,” Declan insisted.
