Chapter 64
Chapter 64
Phoebe’s expression was indifferent. “There’s nothing for us to talk about.*
“If you’re still mad about last time, I can apologize. I was in the wrong,” Declan said.

Phoebe looked at him in surprise. She had not expected him to apologize. “If that’s all, I accept your apology. Can I leave now?”
Declan’s gaze darkened, and he spoke in a low voice. “You’re still angry.”
Phoebe sighed, a bit exasperated. “Since you’ve already apologized, whether I stay mad or not is my business. It has nothing to do with you.”
With that, Phoebe put the car in reverse, maneuvered around Declan, and drove away.
From that day on, she and Declan did not see each other again. Occasionally, she would catch glimpses of him in entertainment magazines, attending events with Jennifer.
She barely spared those images a glance before shifting her gaze away, utterly indifferent.

Half a month later, it was Friday night. After working overtime, Phoebe returned to her villa past ten o’clock.
She took a shower and was about to read for a bit before bed when the doorbell suddenly rang.
She walked to the door and looked through the peephole. It was Declan. Her brows furrowed slightly.
Adjusting the hem of her nightgown, she opened the door, her expression cold as she looked at him. Just as she was about to speak, she caught a whiff of alcohol. “You’ve been drinking?”
Declan’s gaze was still clear, but there was a hint of intoxication in his eyes. “Phoebe, do you remember what today is?”
Phoebe thought for a moment before it dawned on her. It was their third wedding anniversary.
With work keeping her busy and her general disinterest in such things, she had completely forgotten.
She pressed her lips together, irritation flashing in her eyes. “If you’re just here to talk nonsense, then you should leave now. I need to rest.”
Declan braced a hand against the door, his gaze turning cold. “Do you even realize it’s our anniversary?” Phoebe frowned. “So what? You never cared before. Why are you suddenly acting sentimental now?”
Declan was not angry. Instead, he let out a low chuckle. “I got you a gift. What about you?”
“I don’t need your gift. Go-” Before she could finish, an arm wrapped around her waist.
In the next second, Declan’s tall frame pressed down on her.
It was only when she felt the warmth of his lips on hers that she reacted, shoving him away forcefully. “Declan, are you insane?”
She wiped her lips in disgust, but her reaction only provoked him further. He grabbed her wrist, and in the next moment, she found herself pinned against the wall.
Kisses rained down on her. Phoebe struggled, but Declan held her in place, refusing to let go.

Fury burned inside her. Without hesitation, she bit down on his lip, hard. The sharp taste of blood filled both their mouths.
Declan finally released her, looking down at her with deep eyes. His voice was low and husky. “Since you didn’t get me a gift, that kiss will do as compensation.”
“You lunatic.” Phoebe was about to push him away when she suddenly felt something cool against her neck.
Reaching up, she touched it, a necklace. Her brows furrowed, and she moved to take it off, but Declan was faster, pressing her hand down. “If you dare take it off, I’ll kiss you again.
Phoebe froze, but her gaze was ice–cold. “Declan, did you drink fake alcohol or something?”
Otherwise, he would not be acting so out of character tonight.
Declan gripped her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. “Even if you were mad, hasn’t it been long enough?”
Phoebe shoved him away, staring at him coldly. “Declan, I’m not throwing a tantrum. I just don’t want to be in the same space as you.”
A chill spread through Declan’s eyes. He had humbled himself this much, yet she remained so indifferent. “Phoebe, no matter what, you’re coming back with me tonight.”
For weeks, he had given her space, hoping she would cool down. But instead, she had only grown colder toward him.
Declan decided he could not let her keep pushing him away.
