Chapter 63
Declan detected the chill in Phoebe’s tone, and a flicker of coldness flashed in his eyes. He didn’t say anything more and turned to leave.
Audrey didn’t turn to look at Phoebe until Declan had disappeared from sight. “Pheebs, when do you and Declan plan to have a baby?”
Phoebe was drinking her juice when she almost choked on it upon hearing the question.
After struggling to swallow, she set down her glass and replied in a low voice, “Mrs. Richardson, we don’t have any plans for that right now.”
Audrey sighed, her voice filled with concern. “Jennifer has returned. I’m afraid he might let you down. If you two had a child, maybe Declan’s attention would stay on you.”
Phoebe smiled. “Mrs. Richardson, if I have to rely on a child to tie him down, that would be too pathetic. I would never let myself end up in such a situation.”
“You saved Declan and healed his leg. No matter what, you are his wife, and he should treat you well,” Audrey said firmly.
She would never allow Declan to marry Jennifer unless she passed away.
Phoebe hesitated for a moment before looking at Audrey seriously. “Mrs. Richardson, I’ve been thinking a lot lately. If one day I end up divorcing Mr. Richardson, I hope you will support me.”
Audrey’s eyes flashed with shock. She hadn’t expected things between them to have deteriorated to this point. “Did you catch him red–handed on the spot?”
“No, I just want you to be mentally prepared if that day ever comes,” Phoebe said.
Audrey remained silent for a long time. When she finally spoke again, her mood had noticeably dropped. “I understand.” Because of this conversation, Audrey remained downcast even during dinner, finding everything about Declan unpleasant. After dinner, Audrey wanted them to stay overnight at Elysian House, but since both Phoebe and Declan had work the next day, they had to leave.
Before they left, Audrey pulled Declan aside, gritting her teeth as she warned him, “If you dare to let Pheebs down, don’t even think about getting a single share of Richardson Group.”
Although Declan was the one in charge of Richardson Group, all the company shares were actually in Audrey’s hands.
Three years ago, Declan had agreed to marry Phoebe because Audrey had promised to transfer 80% of her shares to him after five years.
However, Phoebe had no idea about this agreement between them.
Declan’s eyes darkened, his voice low. “I understand.”
Phoebe didn’t know what Audrey had said to Declan, and when he returned, the coldness around him had intensified.
She glanced at him indifferently before looking away and smiled as she said goodbye to Audrey. “Bye, Mrs. Richardson, visit you again next time.”
Audrey looked reluctant to part with her. “Okay. If Declan ever makes you feel wronged, you must tell me. I won’t let him
off.”

Feeling a warmth in her heart from Audrey’s unconditional support, Phoebe nodded. “Alright, it’s windy outside. You should go back in. Take care of yourself.”
“I’ll wait until you’ve left before I go inside,” Audrey insisted.
Phoebe didn’t say anything more. She waved her hand and turned to get into her car, driving away without hesitation. Declan, who had been completely ignored the entire time, had a face as dark as ink.
Audrey shot him an annoyed look, her eyes filled with dissatisfaction. “Alright, you can leave now.”
With that, she couldn’t be bothered to deal with him any longer and turned around to head back inside.
Declan was momentarily stunned. ‘Did I just get disliked by the two of them at the same time?‘ he thought.
Just as Phoebe reached the foot of the mountain, Declan blocked her path.
A black Maybach stopped in front of her car. Declan pushed open the door, stepped out, and walked toward her step by step.
Sensing the oppressive aura emanating from him, Phocbe frowned, lowered her window, and looked at him coldly. “What’s up?”
Declan remained silent for two seconds before speaking in a deep voice. “Phoebe, we need to talk.”
