On the way back to the Richardson Group, Patrick couldn’t help but say, “Mr. Richardson, the price we offered is already far beyond Miracle Youth’s actual value. I don’t think the acquisition is going to happen.”
Declan’s gaze was icy. After a moment of silence, he said, “Compile a report on all the fashion companies under our corporation and bring it to me.”
He had intended to acquire Miracle Youth and let Jennifer run it to gain some experience, but with Miracle Youth’s refusal, he’d need to look for other options.
“Yes, Mr. Richardson,” replied Patrick.
Time passed quickly, and soon it was Saturday–the day Phoebe had agreed to return to the Greene family estate for dinner.
In the morning, she got up and got dressed. As she walked downstairs, she saw Declan sitting on the couch, reading a document.
At the sound of her footsteps, he put the document away and looked up at her.
She wore a fitted long dress today. Her pretty face was bare of makeup, and her long hair was tied up into a bun.
She looked like a vibrant college student, seeming more than a decade younger than Declan, who was dressed in a suit and leather shoes.
Declan frowned, reached out, and pulled the hair tie from her bun. Her long hair cascaded down.
Phoebe shot him an annoyed look. “What are you doing?! Give me back my hair tie!”
Declan tossed it into the trash and said coolly, “A bun doesn’t suit you. You look better with your hair down.”
Phoebe was furious, thinking how she looked was none of his business.
“Let’s go. We’ll be late if we don’t leave now,” Declan said. He started walking ahead but soon realized Phoebe wasn’t following. Turning back, he asked unhappily, “Why are you just standing there?”
“Did my dad invite you to dinner too?” asked Phoebe.
“Yeah. Is there a problem?”
Phoebe was silent for a few seconds before replying calmly, “No problem. Let’s go.”
She realized Liam had acted on his own, probably because he knew she wouldn’t agree. The fact that he went ahead with it anyway just showed how little he cared about her opinion.
An hour later, Declan’s car pulled up in front of the Greene family estate.
Jennifer had been waiting at the door, knowing Declan was coming. When she saw Phoebe, her expression remained unchanged as if she hadn’t even noticed her. Then she said, “Deck, we’ve been waiting for you. Let me take you inside.”
Declan’s expression was indifferent. He turned to Phoebe and said, “Let’s go.”
Phoebe was puzzled by how he was clearly in love with Jennifer, yet acted as if he had nothing to do with her. But then she remembered those photos of him and Jennifer, and her gaze turned cold.
They walked into the estate one after the other. As soon as they stepped into the living room, George came up to greet them.

Chapter 52
“Mr. Richardson, Phoebe, you’re here. Please, have a seat.”
Seeing his smiling face, Phoebe averted her gaze indifferently. Calling her back for dinner was just an excuse–the real reason was to meet with Declan.
She had no interest in playing along and humoring them, so she turned to Declan and said, “I’m going for a walk in the garden.”

Phoebe had just settled into the pavilion in the garden when Jennifer appeared before her and said, “Phoebe, don’t get ahead of yourself. You might be Deck’s wife on paper, but the one he truly loves is still me!”
“Is that so?” Phoebe raised an eyebrow, a trace of mockery flashing in her eyes. “But he didn’t even look at you when we were at the gate.”
Jennifer’s expression darkened, but she quickly said through gritted teeth, “That’s only because we had a fight recently. We’ll make up soon enough.
“Oh, and remember how the male model incident on Grandpa’s birthday got exposed? Declan found out I was involved, but he didn’t blame me. He even covered it up for me! So what if you’re his wife? He’ll always take my side!”
