Declan radiated pure cold air, and his gaze pressed down on Phoebe like a thousand–pound weight, making it hard for her to breathe.
As he stepped closer, the air around them seemed to drop several degrees.
Even the air around him seemed to scream that he was furious. More precisely, Phoebe had never seen him this angry before.
Stopping right in front of her, Declan let out a cold laugh and barked, “You got some guts, huh? Running off to the courthouse to finalize the divorce behind my back.”
Hearing that, she realized this was Serene’s doing–pulling this stunt without Declan’s knowledge. Declan must have found out somehow, which was why he was here instead of Serene.
Phoebe instinctively hid the divorce papers behind her and met his gaze without a flicker of guilt. “Mr. Richardson, are you here to get this notarized with me?”
Seeing her movement, Declan glared at her and growled, “Phoebe, even if you have a divorce agreement with my signaturė, as long as I don’t agree, you’ll never be free of this marriage.”
Phoebe’s grip on the papers tightened, and she retorted, “What do you want, then? You won’t let me go unless I actually sleep with another man, right?”
Declan let out a laugh, sharp and frigid. Every word he spoke was laced with ice. “Go ahead and try. Just don’t come crying when it ruins his life.”
Phoebe pressed her lips together. She knew there was no point in pushing this today. He wasn’t going to budge, and she didn’t want to waste more time. She simply said, “Well, I think I should be leaving.”
Just as she turned toward her Lamborghini, she felt his gaze sharpen, and he asked, “Who’s the owner of this car?”
Phoebe hadn’t worked in years. Even with her recent job, there was no way she could afford something like this. That was why Declan felt confused.
She flashed a smile and replied, “Not really any of your business, is it?”
Then, without waiting for his reaction, she got in and drove off.
Declan watched the car disappear into the distance, his eyes narrowing dangerously. He then said to Patrick, “Find out who owns that car.”

Phoebe had barely pulled up outside Miracle Youth when Liam appeared, blocking her path. His eyes flicked to her car, surprise flashing across his face. “Phoebe, did Declan buy this for you to drive to work?”
He had already looked into it–Phoebe was just a regular employee at Miracle Youth, probably working there just to kill
time.
Phoebe didn’t bother explaining. She frowned and asked, “What do you
want?”
She hadn’t expected Liam to show up here.
Liam gave her a warm smile, his voice gentle. “I’ve been calling you for days, but you never answered. I had no choice but to come find you myself. Come home this weekend, okay? Your grandparents want to see you.”

Phoebe was silent for a few seconds before nodding. “Got it. You’ve done, huh? I need to get back to work.”
Liam’s smile didn’t falter. “Good. I’ll send the driver to pick you up on Saturday.”
After he left, Phoebe turned and walked into the building without another word.

Before she knew it, it was past work hours. She had stayed late on purpose–anything to avoid going home to face Declan
By the time she finally decided to leave, it was past ten. Just as she was stepping out, her phone rang.
Picking it up, she heard Cora’s voice with sobs. “Pheebs, I feel awful. Can you check on me?”
Phoebe immediately asked with a worried face, “Where are you? I’ll be there right away.”
Cora gave her the name of a club before hanging up.
As Phoebe drove, worry gnawed at her. She wondered, ‘Isn’t she supposed to celebrate her birthday with her boyfriend tonight? What the hell has happened?‘
When Pheobe arrived at the private suite, the scene that greeted her made her frown. Empty bottles were scattered all over the place.⚫
