In the corner of the couch, Cora was curled up with a bottle in her arms, sobbing Her makeup was completely ruined- mascara smudged around her eyes, streaks of tears down her cheeks. She looked wrecked
Phoebe sat down next to Cora and pulled the bottle out of her hands. “What happened? Where’s your boyfriend?”
The word boyfriend seemed to hit a nerve because Cora immediately burst into even louder sobs, choking out her words between gasps. “That scumbag… I dumped his ass.”
It took a while, but Phoebe finally pieced together the full story.
Cora’s boyfriend had taken her out for dinner tonight. She’d thought he was planning a sweet birthday surprise, only to be blindsided when he told her he wanted to break up,
The reason was that his college sweetheart had just returned from abroad, and he wanted to get back with her.
Phoebe sighed and patted Cora’s back, comforting, “Don’t waste your tears on trash like that. Better to see his true colors now than later, right? You’ll find someone a hundred times better.”
Cora’s eyes were swollen from crying, but that didn’t stop her from reaching for the bottle in Phoebe’s hand. “Give me that. I wanna drink more.”
Phoebe moved the bottle out of reach and said, “No more. You’re already drunk. I’m taking you home.”
Cora protested, “I’m NOT drunk. I can still drink.”
Phoebe wasn’t in the mood to argue with a drunk person. Without another word, she hoisted Cora over her shoulder and carried her out.
After dropping Cora off at her place, Phoebe was just about to leave when she realized her phone was missing.
Pheobe thought back and realized she must’ve left it in the private suite.
By the time she made it back to the club, it was already past eleven. She went straight to the suite and pushed open the door. Inside, sitting in the center of the room was a man with a fat face, and he was casually twirling a silver phone in his hand.
Phoebe’s eyes narrowed as she walked up to him and said, “Excuse me, sir. That’s my phone. Could you return it to me?”
Her presence made the room go silent. Everyone turned to stare at her, their expressions amused like they were watching a show.
The crowd thought, ‘Clearly, this chick has no idea who Alaric is. If she does, she wouldn’t be talking to him like that.
Alaric looked up, his eyes flashing with interest as he took in her face. The chick before him was stunning, way above the usual women who threw themselves at him.
Leaning back, he locked his eyes on Pheobe and said with a smirk, “Beautiful lady, got any proof this phone is yours?” Phoebe kept her patience and replied, “I can unlock it.”
Alaric chuckled and nodded. “Alright, let’s say it is yours. But since I found it, don’t you think you should offer a little….
reward?”
Phoebe replied, “What do you want?”
“Simple.” He gestured at the table and added, “Drink these three glasses, and I’ll give it back.”

Without hesitation, she picked up the glasses and downed them one by one. Setting the last glass back on the table, she met Alaric’s gaze and asked, “Now, can you give me my phone?”
Alaric grinned and handed it over.
“Thanks,” Pheobe replied.
Without another word, Phoebe turned around and walked out. Inside the suite, everyone exchanged knowing looks and thought with excitement, Well, she had no idea she was already marked as tonight’s prey.
Watching her leave, Alaric smirked and nodded at his men. “Follow her. Bring her straight to my room.”
Phoebe had barely stepped into the hallway when something felt off. A strange heat spread through her body, making her legs unsteady. She reached out, gripping the wall for support.
She forced herself to move, trying to get out of the club before it got worse.
Then, behind her, a voice sounded. “There she is. Get her.”
