Phoebe frowned and asked, “Did you tell her Heart’s Whisper isn’t for sale?”

That dress was meant to be Cora’s birthday gift, and Phoebe had designed it herself. She had just been too busy lately to pick

it up.

“I did,” Marlyn said hesitantly. “But the customer is Ms. Bianca Jennings. She insists on buying Heart’s Whisper and even said she’s willing to pay ten times the price. I wasn’t sure what to do since I didn’t want to offend the Jennings family.”

Phoebe was silent for a couple of seconds before responding coolly, “Tell her she can choose any other dress in the store, and we’ll give it to her as a gift–just not Heart’s Whisper.”

Marlyn replied, “Understood, I’ll handle it.”

Marlyn then walked back to where Jennifer and Bianca were waiting. She put on a polite but firm smile and said, “Ms. Jennings, I’m very sorry, but our boss won’t sell this dress. As an apology, you may pick any other dress in the store, and we’ll gift it to you.”

A flicker of interest flashed in Bianca’s eyes. Miracle Youth’s gowns were always stunning, and each piece was worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Before she saw Heart’s Whisper, she had already fallen in love with a few dresses.

She glanced at the ones she had been considering again. They were beautiful, no doubt, but none of them compared to Heart’s Whisper.

Just picturing herself wearing it at the party, she couldn’t imagine how stunning she would be.

She hesitated for a moment before looking at Marlyn with clear displeasure. “If the dress was put on display, then it should be available for purchase. If you keep labeling dresses as ‘not for sale‘ even after customers show interest, who would want to shop here?

“I admit Miracle Youth has great designs, but you’re not the only choice in Roseberg.”

Marlyn could tell Bianca was trying to pressure her. Marlyn kept her polite smile but was already losing patience. “Ms. Jennings, this dress truly isn’t for sale. I suggest you take another look at the other pieces.”

Bianca let out a cold laugh, her anger surfacing. “And what if I insist on buying it?”

Marlyn’s smile faded slightly, and she replied in a firm tone, “No matter what you say, this dress is not for sale. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have other matters to attend to. Feel free to browse, and just let the staff know if you find something you like.”

Without another word, Marlyn turned and walked away.

Bianca’s face twisted in rage. She glared at Marlyn’s back and snapped, “Stop, if you walk away now, I swear I’ll never shop here again. I’ll even tell all my friends to boycott Miracle Youth. Trust me, I don’t make empty threats.”

Marlyn stopped in her tracks. When she turned back around, her expression was completely unreadable, but her voice carried a steely edge. “Ms. Jennings, I’ve already explained this dress was mistakenly put on display, and I’ve also offered to gift you any other dress in the store.

“But if you insist on making a scene and resorting to threats, go ahead. We don’t start trouble, but we’re also not afraid of it. Do as you please.”

Bianca’s face turned even uglier. Just as she was about to argue again, Jennifer grabbed her arm and said, “Ms. Bushnell, don’t take it to heart. Bianca just really loves the dress and got a little emotional. I apologize on her behalf.”

Bianca frowned, clearly still angry, but Jennifer shot her a warning look, making her bite back her words.

Marlyn’s expression remained neutral as she replied, “No need for an apology, Ms. Greene. The mistake was on our end in

Once Marlyn was gone, Bianca turned to Jennifer, frustration clear on her face. “Jennie, why did you stop me? Can you believe a shop manager dares to act so high and mighty in front of me?”

Jennifer stayed quiet for a moment before whispering, “Hon, you just got back, and you don’t understand Miracle Youth’s influence in Roseberg. Almost every high–society woman in town has their custom gowns made here. If you make an enemy of Miracle Youth, it won’t do you any favors.”

Bianca scoffed, “It’s just a damn clothing brand. What’s so special about it? I don’t believe Miracle Youth is the only option. Even the biggest international brands don’t have this kind of attitude.”
