Phoebe was silent for a moment before replying, I don’t have time. If you do, cook it yourself.

Declan didn’t argue. He got up and headed for the kitchen.

Seeing Declan actually head to the kitchen, Phoebe was momentarily surprised. She only said without thinking, never expecting him to actually cook.

Her expression quickly returned to indifference. She placed an order for fried chicken and then went upstairs for a shower. Instead of using the master bedroom, she went straight to the guest room, which contained a private bathroom.

After showering, she went back downstairs. Checking the delivery app, she saw that her order had already been marked as delivered, yet there was no food in sight. Frowning, she called the delivery guy.

After learning that the food had been delivered 20 minutes ago, Pheobe frowned. She stood up, scanned the room, and finally spotted her fried chicken in the trash.

Hanging up the call, Phoebe stormed toward the kitchen. Just as she reached the doorway, Declan walked out with a bowl of soup in his hands.

They collided, and the steaming hot soup spilled. Seeing that it was about to scald Phoebe, Declan instinctively shoved her out of the way. The boiling liquid splashed onto his arm instead. His skin turned red almost instantly, blisters forming in seconds.

Phoebe froze for a second before frowning. I’ll get the first aid kit.”

After treating the burn, Phoebe was about to put the kit away when she noticed Declan staring at her. His intense gaze made her frown, and she said in a cold tone, I’m sorry about this, but if you hadn’t thrown away my food, none of this would’ve happened.”

Declan remained silent for a moment before saying, I just didn’t want you to eat junk food. I wanted us to have something healthy together.”

Phoebe’s face remained emotionless, and she rejected. No need. I’ll just order another one. Declan, we’re getting divorced in a week. It’s better for us to keep our distance.

Declan frowned, locking eyes with her. You’re really set on this?

Phoebe’s voice was unwavering. Yes.”

Hey, I think we should-

She cut him off coldly, enunciating each word. There’s nothing to discuss. I’ve made up my mind. Once I get the 15 million dollars, you’d better keep your word.”

Without sparing another glance at his dark face, she turned around and walked away.

Returning to her room, she didn’t bother reordering food because she didn’t want to go downstairs and see him again.

Instead, she pulled out her phone and logged into a website she hadn’t touched in three years.

After entering her credentials, a golden circle appeared on the screen with a single line of text: Welcome back to Fullmoon!

Her eyes turned icy as she navigated to the mission board. If she wanted to make 15 million in a week, this was her only option.

Suddenly, a chat window popped up, and the sender, named Vulture with a black profile picture, sent her a message.

Vulture: [Hi, are you really Iris?]

Before Phoebe, her name Iris on this website, could reply, another message came through.

Vulture: [Looks like it’s really you. Damn, I thought you got killed on a mission. When I saw your account light up, I felt like I saw a ghost.]

Vulture was an old teammate of her. They used to work together in missions often, always in disguise, so neither knew the other’s real identity.

Iris: [Had things to take care of these past three years.]

Vulture: [Are you back for more missions?]

Iris: [Yeah.]

Vulture: [Perfect timing. I picked up a job, but I need a partner. Payout is 15 million. We split it 50-50. Interested?]

Iris: [Send me the details.]

A moment later, Vulture sent over an encrypted file.

Phoebe decrypted it effortlessly, scanned through the contents, and sent back a single response. [OK.]

Vulture didn’t say anything else before logging off.

Pheobe continued browsing for more opportunities and soon picked up another missionthis one offering 10 million dollars.

With these two jobs, she’d have the money she needed. For the first time that day, she felt a weight lift off her shoulders. With her schedule planned out, she finally went to sleep.

The next morning, Phoebe was jolted awake by the doorbell. She ignored it at first, but the ringing was relentless. It killed whatever was left of her sleep.

She glanced at the clock and it was just 6:05 AM. Whoever this is, they better have a damn good reason, she thought irritably. Throwing on a robe, she made her way downstairs to answer the door.

Once Phoebe opened the door, she saw Jennifer standing outside, and she immediately frowned.

Jennifer, on the other hand, looked completely stunned, and her face turned pale. Pheebs? WWhy are you here?
