Declan let out a cold laugh and teased, You think this is going too far? I didn’t ask you to sleep with me.

Phoebe clenched her teeth. Keep dreaming.”

Declan added, “Come home with me, or I’ll move in here with you. Make your choice.”

Phoebe took a deep breath and told herself, Fine, just put up with it for one week. Without another word, she turned around and walked straight to the Maybach parked by the curb.

Declan asked, Aren’t you gonna pack your things?

Phoebe’s tone was indifferent. I’ll be back in a week. No need to pack.

The smile on Declan’s face disappeared, but he said nothing. He got into the car, picked up a file, and started reading without sparing her a glance.

Out of the corner of her eye, Phoebe caught a glimpse of the document in his hand, and her expression suddenly turned a shade of shock. She asked, You’re planning to acquire Miracle Youth

Declan frowned and threw his cold gaze at her. You’ve never shown any interest in my business before. What now?

A trace of sarcasm flickered across Phoebe’s eyes. As if you’d tell me if I had interests.

Remembering that she had mentioned starting work the night before, Declan looked at her and asked, Soyou joined Miracle Youth?

Yeah, so I advise you to drop your acquisition plans now. You won’t succeed, replied Pheobe.

Declan’s expression remained impassive. Anything’s possible if the price is right.”

Well, go ahead and try

No matter how much money he throws at it, I’m not selling Miracle Youth, thought her firmly.

Declan sensed something off in her tone but didn’t dwell on it. He assumed she was just worried about the company’s fate now that she worked there.

After a moment, he asked, What exactly are you doing at Miracle Youth?

Cleaning.

Declan looked at her, clearly not believing it

Seeing his skeptical expression, Phoebe remained neutral. Don’t believe me? Whatever?

To her, clearing out the parasites in the company wasn’t much different from cleaning up trash, so she could be called a cleaner.

After a few seconds of silence, Declan suddenly said, Whoever’s handling Miracle Youth’s HR should get their eyesight checked. They actually gave you that kind of job.

Phoebe snorted, People who can’t do anything themselves always assume others can’t either.”

Declan raised his eyebrows and shot back, Marrying someone useless doesn’t make you any better?

Phoebe turned her head away, clearly not interested in entertaining his nonsense any longer.

Chapter 15

Watching her sulking. Declanagainst all logicfound her a little cute. His voice softened slightly as he spoke up, Next Saturday is your grandfather’s birthday. I’ll attend the party with you.

Phoebe thought for a moment before nodding. Good, I can let them know about our divorce.

Declan’s expression turned icy, his stare sharp. Are you going to celebrate his birthday or piss him off?

Phoebe looked at him in confusion, failing to understand his sudden sulk. She replied. They will know that sooner or later. What’s the point of dragging it out?

Declan let out a cold laugh and said, You should worry about getting that 15 million dollars together first.

His tone carried a hint of mockery, making it clear he didn’t believe she could do it.

Phoebe lowered her gaze and didn’t respond.

An hour later, the car pulled up in front of the villa. Phoebe walked to the door and entered the code. However, it showed access denied.

She frowned and turned back toward Declan, who was standing a few steps behind her. You changed the code?

Yeah, I set it to your birthday,he replied

Phoebe’s eyes flickered, and then she let out a sarcastic chuckle. You sure it’s my birthday and not Jennifer’s? You should know better than anyone

Without waiting for a response, the reentered the code and walked inside.

Declan frowned as he watched her back, irritation flashing in his eyes.

When he changed the password, he had genuinely set it to Pheobe’s birthday. It didn’t even occur to him that Jennifer shared the same birthday with Phoe

Phoebe sat down on the couch. Her gaze briefly landed on the shredded divorce papers in the trash, but she quickly looked away, as if she saw nothing

Declan sat across from her, his face negaining its usual cold detachment. He simply asked, What’s for dinner?

Phoebe waved her phone and replied. Tin ordering takeout. Suit yourself.”

Declan frowned instantly and protested. Takeout is not healthy

She retorted, I didn’t ask you to eat it

I mean you shouldn’t eat it either

Phoebe had been scrolling through the menu when she heard that. Her fingers paused, and she looked up at him, annoyed. So what, I starve?
