Chapter 38: The Alpha’s Jealousy
Chapter 38: The Alpha’s Jealousy
(Elena’s POV)
Before Catherine Hayes could react, I walked past her and left the estate. The black gold card remained on
the table, untouched.
I reflected on how I would have been overjoyed to receive such a gift from Marcus in the past. I would have
seen it as a sign of his care, proof that he valued me as his mate.
However, I was no longer that naive she–wolf. Those days of desperate hope were behind me.
I had arranged to meet Nathan Sterling at the Crimson Moon Tavern. Upon my arrival, Nathan was already. waiting at a corner table, looking relaxed in his casual attire.
He greeted me with a playful remark about my choice of venue. “Elena really knows how to find restaurants.
Very romantic.”
I countered with a slight smile. “I couldn’t afford anything too expensive, nor could I offer something cheap
that wouldn’t suit your status as Young Master Sterling.”
Nathan laughed at my practical response. “You always think too much about these things.”
As we ordered dinner and moonlight wine, I felt a sense of ease I hadn’t experienced in a long time. The
conversation flowed naturally, without the tension that usually accompanied my interactions.
I realized that in my six years of mating, I had lost touch with my friends and my own life. Everything had
revolved solely around work and waiting for Marcus to notice me.
“Fortunately, it’s not too late to stop the loss,” I thought to myself.
(Marcus’s POV)
At the Blackwood Consortium, I concluded a lengthy meeting with foreign investors and returned to my
Alpha’s Command Chamber. The negotiations had been successful, but my mind was elsewhere.
I read a message from Catherine Hayes about Elena refusing the unlimited spending card. My expression
turned complex as I processed this information.
I wondered if Elena was determined to defy me at every turn. Were my attempts to compensate her with
money not enough?
I tried to connect with Elena through our mate bond, but found myself blocked. She had shielded herself from
me completely.
Annoyed by this deliberate rejection, I immediately called Elena’s phone.
(Nathan’s POV)
When Marcus’s call came through Elena’s phone, Elena was on stage playing the piano. The soft melody filled
the tavern as she performed for the small audience.
I noticed the caller ID showing “Alpha” and answered the phone myself.
“Alpha Marcus?” I said into the device.

Marcus’s voice was sharp and demanding. “Who is this? Where is Elena?”
I recognized his voice immediately and couldn’t resist taunting him. “Elena is not available right now. She
can’t answer your call.”
Marcus hung up abruptly, the line going dead.
I glanced at Elena on stage, confirming my suspicions about their complicated relationship. Her graceful performance contrasted sharply with the tension I’d just heard in her mate’s voice.
I wondered if she might be Marcus’s weakness.
(Elena’s POV)
After my performance, I returned to the table, my ears flushed from the attention. I hadn’t played piano in public for years.
Nathan praised my playing warmly. “That was beautiful. You’re very talented.”
I admitted with embarrassment, “I’m out of practice. I used to play more regularly.”
He joked about doctors being as dull as “Old Theodore,” referring to Professor Theodore Ashworth. I was aware of the professor’s connections to the Sterling family, so I didn’t reply to his comment.
As we finished our meal, I went to pay the bill, only to be told it had already been settled.
I questioned Nathan about it, reminding him that I was supposed to treat. “I said this meal was my responsibility.”
Nathan dismissed my concern with a wave. “I’m joking. I can’t really let a girl pay for my meal, right?”
“But…” I started to protest.
“Just owe me a favor first,” Nathan interrupted, guessing what I was going to say. “I’ll ask you for it later.”
As Elena and I exited the building, I offered her a ride home. She seemed hesitant to trouble me further.
I proposed a solution to ease her discomfort. “I can have my driver take your car back home, and you can pay
the usual driver service price.”
She agreed to this arrangement, seeming relieved by the compromise.
I dropped Elena off at the entrance to Moonhaven Estate. The imposing gates and manicured grounds spoke
of wealth and power.
“Is it here?” I asked, though the answer was obvious.
Elena confirmed and transferred me the equivalent of a driver’s fee through her phone. After watching me accept the payment, she opened the door and got out of the car.
As I watched Elena enter the estate/complex, I instructed my driver to leave.
(Sophia’s POV)
From my white sedan parked nearby, I watched Elena get out of Nathan’s car and enter the complex. My hand
tightened on the steering wheel, my face grim with rage.
I recognized the car from the Advanced Healing Arts Research Symposium. It was Young Master St distinctive vehicle.

“That b***h is indeed having an affair with Young Master Sterling!” I hissed to myself,
A plan began to form in my mind. This information could be very useful.
(Elena’s POV)
I entered the estate and found Marcus waiting for me in the Great Hall. He was leaning against the bar,
casually dressed, looking as if he had been waiting for some time.
