The Deadly Assassin Robin novel Chapter 1412

"The whereabouts of my father?" Robin's voice was steady, his eyes emotionless—yet in that moment, they flared with an icy glint.

Varryn sighed, shaking his head. "Years ago, my father was ordered by the High Pontiff to execute your father. But he never truly followed through on that death sentence.

"Before the final battle, he entrusted Ms. Vania's grandfather with an ancient tome—the codex. It's a treasured heirloom, passed down through generations of our family.

"I had only ever heard stories about it. I'd never seen it for myself—until then. In our family, only the current family head may keep it safe.

"The moment my father sent it to me, I knew he wasn't coming back. Vania's grandfather also delivered my father's final message: to open the codex, read his words, and destroy it afterward."

Robin retrieved the book and looked at Varryn's confused expression. "And what exactly did that message say?"

Varryn turned toward the fog-veiled depths of Wraithvale and let out a long sigh. "He said that before his ascension, Lord Netheris spoke of a bitter regret. He said the laws that governed the Netheris Domain had become corrupted—due to his own blind idealism.

"The forefather once seized this realm with noble intent, hoping each generation of Lord Netheris would lead the people toward a better world. But he overlooked something vital: the Creator had gifted all beings with desire.

"Desire fuels progress, yes. But it also feeds every dark impulse—greed, lust, obsession, slaughter ...

"And so Netheris fell.

"Lord Netheris's grand vision became lost in the march of time, overtaken by chaos—like a broken code infected by a virus.

"Many brave souls tried to repair the system, but every attempt was sabotaged before it could succeed. It became an impossible riddle to solve.

"In the end, Lord Netheris decided to enter the Aethergate alongside your father—to seek out the source of the law itself and to find a way to rewrite destiny."

"Enter the Aethergate?" Robin flipped open the codex.

Where was this Aethergate hidden?

That same voice—deep within Wraithvale—had spoken the same words.

Only by stepping into the Aethergate and reaching the origin of all law could the curse of this broken world be lifted.

Hmm?

Robin flipped through the glowing, mystical pages—only to find each one completely blank.

"This is your family's priceless heirloom?" Robin asked.

Varryn nodded. "Yes. It's a book without words."

"A blank Aether Codex?" Robin flipped through it again.

Sixty-four pages. Not a single word.

Yet even so, he could feel something powerful—a force within the book calling to him.

And suddenly, a brilliant gold light bloomed before his eyes.

In that radiant glow, a pool of peach blossoms came into view, swaying softly in the breeze, filling the air with sweet fragrance.

Birdsong danced in the distance, spring water rippled with gentle waves, and among it all, a graceful figure drifted in and out of view.

She was beautiful beyond description. Her eyes shimmered with warmth and longing.

"Mr. Ramsey? Mr. Ramsey!"

Varryn's voice pulled him out of the vision, yanking him from that paradise of blossoms and birdsong.

Robin blinked and looked around, startled by the astonished faces surrounding him. "What is it?" he asked.

Varryn looked at Robin, then at the book. "Mr. Ramsey, did you see something?"

Arthur added, "You've been staring at that book for a full hour and smiling like you were the happiest man alive."
