Chapter 388

Seeing the shock on Andrew’s face, Emily let out a cold snort and said, “Mr. Bennett, what do you think would have happened to me if I hadn’t been lucky enough to be rescued?”

Her question was quiet, but it was like a needle stabbing straight into Andrew’s heart, and for the first time, he found himself unable to meet Emily’s eyes, guilt twisting inside him.

But Andrew had always been put on a pedestal since he was a kid. Even when he messed up, nobody ever dared to call him out or question him to his face.

So when Emily threw that mocking question at him, it stung like a slap across the face.

Annoyance flared up, drowning out any guilt or shame he felt. Without even realizing it, he raised his voice, like he was trying to sound more intimidating.

He said, “Even if what Sean did was way out of line, it’s still just between the two of you. You came out of it unscathed, so there’s no reason to make such a fuss that it affects the company.”

Emily was completely caught off guard-she never imagined those words would come out of his mouth.

She knew Andrew was so confident he was almost cocky, and he always found a way to blame her for things, just because he felt like it.

But except for completely losing his mind whenever Lydia was involved, Andrew had always kept a cool head and acted rationally.

And now, this same guy was saying, “You came out of it unscathed.”

Emily couldn’t help but wonder if Lucas had made a mistake about her being part of the Bennett Family-maybe it wasn’t true after all. The idea of sharing the same blood as someone like Andrew honestly made her feel disgusted and repulsed.

Emily honestly couldn’t tell if she should laugh or just be furious. She shot back, “The only reason I’m okay now is because I got lucky, and Austin showed up just in time to save me.
