Chapter 432
Lucas’s back crashed hard against the car, the impact so fierce that even the door was warped out of shape. The pain was blinding-his vision went dark for a second, and he almost blacked out. After a long moment, Lucas finally came back to
himself.
When he looked up, he saw those men brawling with Emily’s bodyguards. The whole place was a mess. Amid the chaos, Emily was being shielded by her bodyguards, retreating step by step under their protection. Yet there wasn’t a hint of panic
on her face.
In Lucas’s mind, Emily had always been a delicate girl. Even if she’d suffered these past few years because of their misunderstandings, at heart she was still spoiled and sheltered.
But now, even if she wasn’t breaking down in tears or screaming, she was surprisingly composed. It was like she’d been through this kind of bloodshed and chaos a million times before.
In a flash, Lucas suddenly remembered the video of Andrew he’d seen not long ago. Andrew, who was always so proud and composed, had been reduced to being so miserable, crawling on the ground, begging for scraps. He must have been through
hell.
And Andrew had ended up like this all because of Emily’s command. ‘Does that mean Emily went through the same kind of torment in her past, too?’ Lucas couldn’t help but wonder.
In that instant, a sudden trace of panic welled up in Lucas’s heart. He didn’t dare dwell on it any longer, trying to persuade himself it was not real. ‘No way, I’m just imagining things. This can’t be happening,’ he thought.
Amid all the chaos, no one paid any attention to Lucas, who was slumped on the ground, dazed and out of it, as if he’d gone completely mad.
The people from St. Gabriel Reform Academy had come prepared. Even though those bodyguards were specially assigned by Austin just for Emily, they were starting to struggle.
One by one, the bodyguards fell, and the number of people protecting Emily dwindled. Just as it looked like the people from St. Gabriel Reform Academy were about to grab Emily, Austin finally showed up with his crew. The tables were turned in an instant.
The people from St. Gabriel Reform Academy grew fewer and fewer, and Austin came over to Emily. “Are you alright?”
