Chapter 389
Emily slapped him hard with a loud smack that echoed through the room. She had put everything she had into that slap, like she was letting out years of bottled-up anger all at once.
Andrew was a grown man, but even he couldn’t stay on his feet. The force knocked him sideways. Right next to him was a
table covered with decorative items.
As he fell, his forehead slammed right into the corner of it. Warm blood immediately started running down his face. He got so dizzy that he nearly collapsed, but he managed to grab onto a chair just in time to keep from hitting the floor.
It took him a while to shake off the dizziness. When he finally turned around, hand still pressed against his bleeding forehead, he looked at Emily in shock.
“You are insane? You hit me!” he shouted. Emily had hit him so hard that her hand hurt.
She shook out her wrist, stayed calm, and looked him in the eye. “Mr. Bennett, don’t take it so personally. It was just a slap. It’s not like I tried to kill you.”
A cold smirk tugged at her lips. “See? You’re still standing.” She had just used his own words against him, and Andrew instantly realized she’d done it on purpose.
He just tried to convince her to go patch things up with Sean. But now that the slap landed on him, there was no way he was going to take the high road.
Andrew snapped, “Emily, you’ve completely lost it. Have I been too easy on you?”
He was always a calm, level-headed type. The only times he ever blew up were when someone on his team seriously hurt th company’s bottom line or, back in the day, when Emily was still the Bennetts’ favorite and someone dared to mess with her.
