Chapter 360
The next second, he heard Lydia’s tearful voice. “I really don’t know why Emily hates me so much. If she wants to be the Bennett family’s heiress, she can have it. Wh-why does she have to sow discord between me and Lucas?”
Sean frowned and asked, “Is Emily picking on you again? Lydia, don’t be scared. Just tell me everything she has done to you.”
Lydia pulled away from his arms. With her eyes brimming with tears, she looked heartbreakingly pitiful. “Emily incited Lucas to fake a DNA test and claimed that she is my parents’ real daughter, while I’m a fake.
“If Emily is mad that I took her spot as the Bennett family’s heiress, she could just say so. I can give it up. Why does she have to make such a mess and tear our family apart?”
Sean looked surprised. “Is that for real?”
The Bennett family cared a lot about their reputation, so they would never let something this humiliating get out. That was why Sean hadn’t heard a word about it.
Lydia nodded pitifully and then disclosed a cracking story. “And then there’s Vincent. I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but I feel like he doesn’t treat me the way he used to.
“Emily and Vincent used to have feelings for each other. If she still likes him, I-I can back off.
“Maybe I shouldn’t have come back. Maybe I should just die. Would Emily stop treating me this way if I were gone?”
Lydia grabbed Sean’s hand, and her eyes overflowed with tears full of despair, as if she meant every word, like she was hanging on to her very last hope, which was Sean.
At that moment, Sean suddenly felt like he was Lydia’s savior. He straightened his back unconsciously and solemnly took her hand.
Sean said, “Lydia, don’t think this way. None of this is your fault. It’s Emily who’s to blame. If anyone deserves to die, it’s her.”
A cold glint flashed in Sean’s eyes. He thought, ‘How dare Emily bully Lydia? I’ll make that bitch pay!’
Lydia didn’t miss the look in Sean’s eyes. Knowing she had gotten what she wanted, she didn’t say anything else, but just squeezed out a few more crocodile tears for effect.
After all, they were still at the company. Once Lydia had gotten what she wanted, she didn’t stick around with Sean any longer, lest someone else see them together.
