Georgia’s heart hammered with fear whenever Preston was near. She couldn’t fathom how he had discovered Maya–her closely guarded secret she refused to share with anyone. Yet, as Preston’s gaze fixed on her, her anxiety twisted into something heavier.

He wasn’t just annoyed or curious; a storm of anger was simmering beneath his surface, threatening to erupt. “Georgia, watch yourself. Remember exactly who you are,” he warned, his voice sharp and unforgiving.

Her face drained of color as those words slammed into her. She’d endured countless insults over the years, but none of them suffocated her quite like Preston’s cold reprimand. Without a word, she dropped her eyes, shutting herself away from the world by closing them tight.

“Mr. Hill, I’m sorry,” she said slowly, her voice barely more than a whisper. “I’ll never forget that I’m nothing more than a rogue.”

She neither sought his pity nor his understanding–though she wasn’t even sure what crime she had committed this time. “If I’ve done wrong, punish me however you want. All I want is to walk out of the Vetro Club alive one day.”

With a trembling hand, she pushed away his grip on her chin. She hoisted herself up on the edge of the bed and slipped off

it

“Mr. Hill, I’ll work hard. I’ll save a million dollars. But I need more time.”

She knew Preston didn’t want money. This was about humiliation, revenge. If this was how he chose to vent his rage, she’d endure whatever he demanded. But it only made him angrier.

His eyes hardened, the fire inside growing more intense. “Is your dignity really that cheap?”

Her eyes widened, desperate to hold back the tears pooling there. Fear anchored her in place. She thought, Preston, I never dared cry in prison. Crying only invited more pain.

She remembered how they’d tied her to the toilet to sleep, how the taunts and torment nearly broke her. Her wolf had withered away, leaving her hollow. I am not the woman I once was,

“I’m asking you one last time,” Preston’s voice cut cold and hard, though the pain he tried to mask slipped through. “Georgia, will you give up your dignity?”

Her hands shook as she sank to the floor, eyes fixed on the ground. Tears threatened to spill, but then Maya’s voice echoed softly in her mind: Georgia, just cry. I can’t watch you suffer like this. No one’s coming. Let it out.

Her tears finally broke free.

Later, they beat Maya too–all because of her. Preston, I don’t even have the right to cry. Then what does dignity even

mean?

“Georgia, the girl you remember is gone,” she told Preston quietly.

His eyes widened, disbelief flooding his features. How could she surrender herself so completely?

The silence in the room was thick enough to choke on.

Then Preston’s lips curled into a hollow smile. “Miss Cooper, very well. Then ‘work hard‘ at the Vetro Club, from now on.”

Georgia returned the bitter smile. Preston, you made me like this. And yet you pretend you don’t remember ordering my

torture.

Still, she said, “Thank you, Mr. Hill.”

His temper snapped. “Get out!”

“No, I want you to crawl out.”
