After a moment, the elevator doors slid open.
Preston wasn’t surprised when Simon appeared, dragging another man behind him.
“Come in.”
Preston cast a glance at the pair but didn’t stop Stanley.
“Where’s the woman?”
Stanley’s eyes darted eagerly around.
“This is Vetro Club. Plenty of women downstairs. If you want one, talk to Charlotte. She’ll get you sorted.”
Preston answered calmly.
Simon shot a look at Stanley, silently saying, Are you really this clueless?

“Preston, that’s not the woman you mentioned, right?” Stanley asked as they followed Preston into the bedroom where a woman lay on the bed.
They looked closer and both thought, Isn’t that Georgia? The one Preston locked up?
Simon’s face flickered with subtle surprise, but he kept quiet.
“Check on her. See if she’s alright,” Preston ordered.
Simon hesitated, then crouched by Georgia’s side.
He began to unbutton her shirt.
“What are you doing?” a sharp voice interrupted, grabbing his wrist.
Simon met Preston’s icy gaze.
“I need to check her pulse,” Simon explained.
“Then why unbutton her shirt?” Preston demanded.
“I’m going to use a stethoscope.”
Simon was baffled. Preston had never acted this way before.
Preston released Simon’s wrist.
Simon moved to continue but was stopped again.
“Let me do it.”
Simon and Stanley exchanged bewildered looks.
“Is this okay?” Preston suddenly asked Simon.
Simon paused, then quickly said, “Yeah.”
What else could he say?
“She’s fine. Just suffered shock.” Simon’s tone held a trace of humor. “Alpha Preston, you really do care about her, huh?”
Stanley shuddered, turning away.
“Simon, we’ve got work back at the pack. Let’s go grab some food. We better beat Preston’s wrath.”
Through the mind link, Stanley added, “Bro, we should leave before Preston gets mad.”
Stanley wondered silently, Does Simon not know how much Preston hates Georgia?
Georgia had killed Giselle. Though she was the daughter of the Alpha of Silver Stream Pack, Preston still sent her to prison.

“What’s your deal?” Simon snapped inside the elevator. “If you want to leave, just go. Why drag me along?”
Stanley was irritated. “I’m trying to save your ass! What did you say to Preston? That he’s in love with Georgia? Don’t you know how much he hates her? Look at her now. Does she look like her old self? As the Alpha’s daughter of Silver Stream Pack, she was a legend in Gabbs. Any Alpha would want her as his mate. Even Giselle couldn’t compare to Miss Cooper. But look at her now. Can you really believe Preston’s into her?”
