Catarina’s POV
"Go and get the little tramp yourself. She's in the hospital East Wing and as for Lochlan. Well believe me, I hope he rots in hell. And as for you. Coming here and threatening me and my children. You signed your own death note, my friend."
As I pushed my twins into Mindy's arms and ordered her to take them out of the room, fear mingled with rage flooded my every fibre. David had threatened my children, my family. I couldn't let him get away with it.
Swiftly and deftly, I snatched the gun from his hands, catching him off guard and assertively pointing it back at him. The power I held in that moment sent a surge of adrenaline through me.
"No more explanations, David," I spat out, my voice seething with anger. "You were willing to harm my innocent children. For what? For some pathetic excuse of an Alpha who betrayed his own Luna and his pack?" My words dripped with venom as I confronted him.
"Please, listen. Hear me out." he pleaded pathetically.
He tried to inch closer to me, hoping to find some mercy or understanding, but I wasn't having it. I flicked the switch on the gun and aimed it at his leg. Without hesitation, I pulled the trigger, shooting him and watching as he crumpled to the floor, writhing in pain.
"I hope you die a slow and painful death. Nobody threatens my babies and gets away with it!" I growled.
The sound of his agonizing cry echoed through the room, and for a moment, a twisted sense of satisfaction washed over me. He deserved to feel the pain, the consequences of his actions.
But even though a part of me revelled in his suffering, another part of me hardened with determination. This wasn't the end. It couldn't be. I needed to protect my family, to ensure their safety.
Holstering the gun, I took a step back, knowing that my actions would have repercussions. David would likely be found and caught, and I needed to be prepared to face the consequences as well.
Alex's lips brushed against my cheeks as he tenderly kissed them, his touch soothing and grounding. "I promise you, Catarina, I will do whatever it takes to keep our children safe. I'm sorry I wasn't there when you needed me," he whispered, his voice filled with regret.
I nodded, understanding the weight of the situation we found ourselves in. "It's not your fault, Alex. We can't always be by each other's side. All we can do now is focus on getting through this together," I replied, trying to mask my own feelings of guilt and inadequacy.
As more warriors filled the room, their presence serving as a reminder of the danger that still lurked, I knew we had to act quickly. I gripped Alex's hand tightly, seeking strength from his support. "Let's go see our babies, Alex. And then we need to figure out our next move. We can't let David's actions go unanswered," I said firmly, determination shining in my eyes.
With a nod, Alex squeezed my hand reassuringly. "I'm with you every step of the way, Catarina. We'll get through this together," he promised, his unwavering certainty bringing me a newfound sense of hope. "This means war for that pack."
As we made our way down the hall towards where our twins were being kept safe, I clung to Alex's presence, willing myself to believe that we could overcome the challenges that lay ahead. Our children's safety depended on it, and I wouldn't let anything, or anyone stand in our way.
