Hiding His Alpha Twins novel Chapter 51

Catarina’s POV

I couldn't believe I was even considering trusting him again. After everything he had done to put me in this situation, how could I possibly let myself be vulnerable to him? Was I being foolish? Were there any other options?

"Fine. I'll give you a chance," I sneered, my voice dripping with bitterness. "But let me make myself clear, Lochlan. If you so much as think about deceiving me, I'll tear you apart, limb by limb. It's what you deserve, after all the pain you've caused."

He nodded, a mix of regret and determination in his eyes. "I know I've wronged you in the past," he confessed softly. "But believe me, I want to make things right. I want to show you I can be a better man."

As he spoke, a war raged within me. The memories of his betrayal were fresh and painful, yet a small part of me yearned for redemption. Could he truly change? Could I find it in myself to trust him again? Only time would tell.

"Actions speak louder than words, Lochlan," I finally replied, my voice strained. "If you're serious about making amends, show me. Show me that you're deserving of my trust."

His gaze became more resolute, determination replacing the regret that had clouded his eyes moments ago. "I understand," he said, his voice laced with sincerity. "I will do whatever it takes to earn your trust back. I will be patient, kind, and understanding. I will prove to you that I am capable of change."

I released a heavy sigh, allowing a sliver of hope to seep into my guarded heart. "Okay," I conceded. "But remember, Lochlan, trust is earned, not freely given. Don't make me regret my decision."

"I will make you proud." he said.

Lochlan's words echoed in the room, reaching deep within me. It was the vulnerability in his voice, the genuine desire to change, that tugged at the frayed edges of my heart. I couldn't help but acknowledge the sincerity etched in his eyes.

"For the twins," I repeated, my voice softening. Their innocent faces flashed through my mind, reminding me of the significance of forgiveness. They deserved a chance to grow up with a father who could shape their lives positively.

"But it's not just about them, Lochlan," I added, my voice wavering slightly. "You need to do this for yourself too. Real change must come from within. It won't be easy, and it won't happen overnight."

Lochlan nodded, his gaze steady. "I understand. I've spent so long running away from the person I was, hiding from my past. But I want to confront it now. I want to become the man I should have been all along."

As we made our way through the dim and eerie corridors, the silence seemed to amplify the tension cocooning us. Not a guard in sight.

Every creak and distant echo sent shivers down my spine, feeling like a warning of the darkness that lay ahead.

Eventually, we reached the entrance to the cell block. The rusted metal bars seemed to mock us, a menacing reminder of the horrors that had taken place behind them. Taking a deep breath, I steeled myself and pushed open the heavy door.

The scene that greeted us was one of desolation and decay. Flickering fluorescent lights cast eerie shadows on the damp, crumbling walls. The air felt heavy, filled with the weight of forgotten souls and lost hopes.

Then, in the distance, a faint sound reached our ears and a muffled cry for help. Adrenaline coursed through my veins, and we followed the desperate echoes, our steps quickening.

Finally, we found him.
