Catarina’s POV

I slowly opened my eyes to a warm and bright room. The sun was shining through the windows and a gentle breeze flowed through the curtains. A maid with her hair scraped back into a bun and a smile on her wrinkled face greeted me. "Good morning, madam. Did you sleep well?" she asked.

"Thank you for asking. Yes, I did." I said, feeling grateful for her care. The maid opened the curtains and the windows, letting in fresh air and light. I sat up, blinking a few times and wondered what was happening. "Where is Alex and the twins?" I attempted to get off the bed, but the maid hurried over.

"Please, madam. The King has requested that you rest. The children are eating their evening meal in the dining hall. The King has appointed a minder named Mindy to see to their needs so you may get the rest you need. I am here to see to anything that you may need." she explained. She gestured to the tray of food she had brought with her.

"What is your name?" I asked, realising that I didn't know. I barely knew anyone here. I should try to get to know everyone since this was my new home.

"My name is Sarah, Madam," she said with a bow. "Pleased to meet you." I nodded my head and turned to see what food she had provided me with.

"Please just call for me if you need anything else." she bowed and left the room so I could eat in peace.

Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice. "Cat." I gasped feeling happy at the sight of him. Alex had arrived. He looked at me. "Cat, the twins are wanting to see you. Are you feeling up to it?" he walked over to the bed to get a closer look at me.

"Of course, I am." I chuckled, feeling relieved to see him.

"And I'm sorry about earlier. I really shouldn't have." the next second, he had placed a finger on my lips to hush me. A small smile forming on his handsome face, as he looked at me with caring eyes.

As he leaned in to kiss me, my heart started racing with anticipation. I closed my eyes and let myself get lost in the moment, feeling his soft lips against mine. It was a moment of pure bliss, and I never wanted it to end. As we pulled away, I felt a sense of warmth and happiness wash over me.

"My wolf is going crazy for you." he whispered in my ear so seductively.

I moaned slightly as his fingers ran down my arm and all the way down to my inner legs where he stopped for a second. Slamming his lips onto mine, he slowly ran his fingers up towards my soaking wet pants. Pushing them aside, he gently stuck a finger inside me making me gasp. "Oh Alex." I was so lost in the moment that I didn't want it to stop.

Suddenly, a knock on the door broke us apart, causing us to break out into a fit of giggles. Alex quickly got up and went to the door, while I tried to compose myself. It was one of the guards, apologizing for the interruption and informing us that the twins were becoming upset and asking for their mother. Alex nodded and went to fetch them.

A few moments later, the door opened, and the twins came rushing in, their faces lit up with excitement. Nadia was the first to reach me, throwing her arms around my neck, while Nathan jumped into my lap, hugging me tightly. "Oh Mummy, we missed you so much," they both said in unison. I couldn't help but smile at their cute and happy faces, and I showered them in hugs and kisses.

I couldn't help but chuckle at her compliment. "Thank you, sweetie. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. We'll talk to Alex about it and see. "I said, ruffling their hair.

My mind was racing with what ifs. What if someone recognised me and Lochlan found out!

I could not risk him finding me or my twins.

"Come on twins, it's almost your bedtime." Alex suddenly announced. I saw that their Minder, Mindy had appeared to collect the twins.

The twins nodded and gave me a hug and kiss as they hurried to Mindy.

Once they had left, Alex came to the bed and pulled me into him so that my head was resting on his chest.

"I think the twins need to know the truth." I blurted out.
