Catarina’s pov

This could not be happening.

I had only just gotten my wolf back, and now I was going to die. My poor twins would be without a mother!

I should have gone to Alex. He would have kept me safe, now I was miles out in a place I did not know.

I had been so stupid and selfish. All I had thought about was getting Matilda free and running. I had not considered the dangers that laid ahead. What if the twins had seen me run off? They would be so upset and confused. I could not bear to imagine their beautiful faces full of hurt. Their little minds full of questions. Alex would be hurt too, knowing that I had left him without a word.

The rogue on me with his teeth about to sink into me, to end my life once and for all.

And then, just as I was about to give up, a loud, ferocious roar sounded through the trees making me freeze. The sound was so loud that it made the trees sway, and the birds flap their wings as they flew out of the trees.

And then, just like that, the smell of strawberries and vanilla took over, and I knew in an instant that it was Alex. He had come to save me.

The wolf that stood before us was huge, grey fur all over with a white patch on his ear and emerald, green eyes that sparkled.

The rogue jumped off me and growled at my saviour. Challenging him.

"Shift back now." He insisted and I did as I was told.

We were both naked, but I did not care for that.

"Are the twins safe? Oh, Alex I’m so sorry. Please forgive me. I was just so excited to have my precious wolf come back to me." I cried sadly but he wrapped me into his arms and kissed my forehead.

"Everything is ok. The twins are safe with Cherry. My wolf suddenly came to me urging me to come here. He knew. Now our wolves are back, everything will be ok." He assured me, scooping me into his arms and carrying me through the forest. "I’m taking you home to rest, the twins will be fine with Cherry. I will tell them you need to sleep." I nodded feeling my eyelids getting heavy as I fell asleep in his arms.
