Lochlan’s POV
"Alpha?" the voice repeated, causing me to return to the conversation. "Yes. Yes. I'm still here." I stuttered and rubbed my forehead, unsure what to say since I was shocked.
"King Alex is throwing a ball for all the alpha and Lunas to attend—the first one to happen in five years." my heart sank. I had avoided these silly balls over the years since losing my mate, but I knew the king would not take kindly to being ignored, and my beta was proper. Building up our pack to become one with others would help make us stronger.
"Alpha Lochlan, perhaps you will consider finding a new luna for the pack." my beta said, and I growled before slamming the phone down. Nobody could replace my Catarina. I did not care who she was or what background she came from. None of them could compare to my true mate. I missed her and her wolf, and I missed her happy face in the mornings and the way she used to look at me with those beautiful big eyes of hers.
King Alex was a strong and fierce Lycan King. We had met several times but nothing for a long while. I had seen him a year before me, and Catarina met him. Oh, how happy she would be to attend such a ball; it would be truly magnificent. A chance for alohas and Lunas to bring peace and happiness to unite our packs as one. To deter rogues from attacking.
My thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock at the door. I growled at the smell of her, but I was so frustrated and angry I needed to release my anger.
"Come in, Tara," I shouted, and she pushed the door open, dressed in a short black dress with black boots and her long hair pulled back into a long ponytail. I oversaw her, and she was smiling at me. I glared in disgust as she licked her lips at me.
"Hello, Alpha." she had one hand on her hip and the other reaching for my groin.
"Get on your knees," I growled, excited. I would throw her around the room and screw her hole until I was satisfied.
"Alpha." she sobbed.
"Get out. NOW!" I used my alpha tone and she instantly got up and rushed out of the room bumping into my Beta David, who raised his eyebrows but said nothing. I knew what he was thinking but I did not care. I had needs and needed to let out my frustrations somehow.
"Alpha, I have some news for you." he said. His words made my head spin.
