It’s been a couple of weeks since the whole Sloane incident, and I am finally starting to feel pregnant. Simply the mention of any meat has me practically drooling and the need for spicy pickles is becoming a problem. Aizen has officially started school with the other pack kids. He never stops talking about training and things he’s learning about the packs. He has a group of friends who hang on to his every word, except when they’re fighting.

Knight blew off the Traditionalists and took Ayrie with him to Germany. I’m not sure if he planned to meet up with Derek, but Melody joined them, and she’s been staying with us since they arrived. Since they are technically enrolled at Aizen’s school, the two of them have been closer than ever and they seem to enjoy giving their tutors a hard time.

I know I do when I’m watching them through the security cameras Perry put in there. I think she’s rubbing off on me because I don’t think anyone else but me has access to this.

I haven’t received a threat in a while, and today, one of the neighboring alphas is coming over to discuss something called a mating ball, which is essentially a prom–like event for young wolves to find their mates. It’s a cute idea, I think. I can’t wait to see how these people do this. I’m hoping I get to, because Allison told me it’s a fifteen percent chance that it’ll happen. “This is kind of fancy for pack work,” Perry says as I finish signing off on the construction contracts. She’s been reviewing some of the bills Allison is going to be sending in to the council. “You’ve been doing this on your own?”

“Allison and some of the sigmas have been assisting me. Come look at this. Vy asked me if we could draw something up so we can switch up hunters and improve basic training for the newly shifted wolves. She just didn’t specify what I was allowed to demand. You know her better than I do,” I drag the file over to her on the screen.

“She’s been talking to you?” she asks, and I think there’s hurt in her tone. “She’s mad at me.”

“What did you do?”

“Why are you assuming I was the one who did something?” she snorts.

“The way you phrased it, Asshole. So what did you do?” I roll my eyes. She inhales sharply and looks up at me like she doesn’t want to say. “What did you do, Perry?”

“Don’t get mad, but I had to do it,” she whispers.

“Perry, what did you do?” I repeat with a little more urgency.

“I transferred Baby’s mate and his chosen to England so that she can go back to Bloodridge. I gave them some money and may or may not have threatened to eat their baby if they ever came back.”

“Perry-”

“Look, it solves all our problems. You’d understand if you knew Baby better. When we took Rome and Baby in, she was little. Younger than the twins, and we were afraid to leave her anywhere. We all took turns babysitting her while the rest of us went on missions until she was able to look after herself, and we would leave her alone for long periods of time.

“I’ve never seen her this happy and this fuck rejected her for a fucking peasant. Ramona and Aizen are the same rank. Stronger and better than any alpha alive because she’s of royal blood. She didn’t deserve that, and if this were two years ago, I would have killed them both for making her cry.”

I understand her anger, but that wasn’t her call to make. Baby has been talking about coming to stay here with us. Those kids‘ families are in Magique, They’re part of the Blood Ridge and Sin’s Creek. What the hell are they going to do so far away from them? What happens when they come back t or their families go visit them?

“Perry, that might actually make things harder on Ramona,” I say quietly. “Do you really think she’s ever going to be happy again in the place where she was rejected by the person who was made to be with her for the rest of her life?”

“Baby is doing great here. She’s looking at the penthouses in the city. She wants to complete the six–month pack trails here. She has three more to go. It’s going to be a while before she can be as happy as she was back at Magique, but she will get there. It’s not going to be because of any interference from us.”

“I already paid them,” she mumbles.

“Well, you’re a fucking idiot. This is going to be a funny ass story to tell the Kings when they get back later.”

“Shut up,” she rolls her eyes.

“Hey,” I pinch her cheek playfully. “I’m you’re older sister. Be nice.”

“I don’t understand how he could do that. He was cruel to her. I wanted to kill him when Rome told me what happened,” she growls. I rub her back and pull her in for a hug.

“All we can do now is be there for Baby. Go get your money back and maybe give it to Vy as an apology. She seems like she really loves her money.”

“She does,” she laughs. “She was probably a pirate in a different life.”

“Or a dragon. They like to hoard stuff, too. Have you seen her personal study? It looks like a fucking Popmart store in there.”
