Chapter 154
Chapter 154
Knightly
As soon as I see the clothes set out for me, I know she did something insane. I take a quick shower and then watch her dance around the closet, putting something together before going into the bathroom.
I stare down at the contract in front of me and smile as I open it. Alpha Rizen had started making the changes that would ultimately bring Phoebe this way. He knew she wouldn’t be able to resist it.
There are plans for villas to be built around the territory for rogue families that are willing to follow the pack laws without having to join officially. Lovely places for Phoebe’s most trusted Rogue advisers. That’s what he named them, and there are detailed agreements that must be signed if they plan on allowing their kids into the schools as well as working in pack businesses. They will receive what he calls a pack visa.
She left the first drafts here and added what she believes would be more accommodating for everyone. Not just the rogues but the pack wolves as well. The established laws of the pack work in favor of the new rogue orders. It’s brilliant, and if it works, I’m going to want to establish this in as many places as I can–Nova, Magique, Lockwood, anywhere that would be highly likely to make the change.
It takes her a couple of hours to get ready, and in the meantime, I take the contract apart. I don’t have to make many changes, just a few things she went a little overboard on. Things the packs are not going to be too happy about. It has to be fair since this is their pack and we’re just going to be a temporary
residence.
Whatever she wants tonight, she knows she’s going to get it.
“Come here,” she says when she walks out of the closet, just about done. I take a moment to admire what she’s wearing.
It’s been a while since she’s gotten ready for something that doesn’t involve work. She is wearing a baby blue dress that fits her perfectly around her round hips. It’s loose on the top, backless, with only a small string of black gems to hold it around her neck. The black really brings out the color of the dress, and the dress adds a sparkle to her big, dark blue eyes. I let out a heavy sigh because, as much as I hate to be that guy, I am not going to like the way anyone is going to look at her.
“Angel-”
“Sit,” she points at her vanity bench as she gets a brush and pomade.
Her eyes are lined with black. She looks fucking delectable. She fusses over me going back and forth to get the accessories right. If I try to stop her, she’s going to get upset, and that’s not how I want to start the night, mainly because it looks like she’s put a lot into this night out.
“We good?” I ask when she steps back to look me over. She takes my hands and pulls me to my feet. She looks me up and down and nods.
“We’re so good,” she says and pulls me over to the full–length mirror.
I inspect the changes, and I have to admit that she is insanely good at this. From the hair down to the shoes, she picked out. The blazer shimmers the same color as her dress, but is mostly black. She even changed the beads of my piercings to baby blue gems.
When she steps into the frame with me and slips her hand under my jacket, I can no longer bring myself to tell that her dress is not something I want to share with anyone else. I look down at her while she looks up at me. That same obsessed looked she had when she tied me to the fucking office ch greats me before she grins..
“You’re going to scare me again tonight, aren’t you?” I smirk.
“Maybe just a little,” she laughs.
She takes my hand and leads me out of the room, snagging a little black purse off the bedside table as we go. As we make our way downstairs, I start mentally preparing myself to hear the comments about her that are going to annoy me and Buddy.
“My parents know we’re leaving?” I ask when we go straight for the door.
“They took the kids with them back to the ranch for the weekend. Ayrie kept saying, I’ll see you later, Daddy.“

“Oh shit,” I laugh. “She speed shouted something at me, and I didn’t get what she wanted, so I just agreed, hoping she would remind me later the way she always does. She did say I’ll see you later a few times and kept hugging me. I am such a dumb ass.”
“I think she was upset you weren’t as sad as she was about her leaving,” she grins. “So a big reunion reaction will probably be expected?
“She’ll get one.” I love it when Ayrie screams something she’s excited about all at once. I never know what the hell she’s talking about, but based on her enthusiasm, I am all in. “Am I allowed to ask where we’re going?”
“Ayrie told me you weren’t paying attention when I told you about the rebranding event,” she laughs, Malcolm, our official head of security, opens the doors to my father’s Rolls–Royce for us.
“When did you tell me?”
“The other night, when Derek came to pick up Melody.”
The night of the full moon. I lean back without saying anything because I do vaguely remember her talking to me, but her heat is approaching, and since this is the first time I’ve actually had to deal with the rut, all I can hear is my blood rushing in my ears as I try to keep my wolf in check. It doesn’t help that she’s- well, her. My body jolts when she places her hand on mine.
“Sorry,” I apologize.
“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” she asks, concerned.
“Yeah. It’s just that I’ve been having trouble keeping Buddy in check. We’re getting a lot stronger, and now that I’ve been trying to get him what he needs,
it feels like he’s demanding more, and it’s a bit distracting. I didn’t forget, it’s just when you told me it was the full moon.”
“Oh,” she scoots closer. “I forget he gets a little cooky during the full moon. It’s okay. It’s a good thing I’m insanely controlling and took care of
everything,”
“Yeah, it is.” I laugh.
