Chapter 114
Froste just stare at him without saying anything. That wasn’t enough for the prince though as he made his way closer to Froste
“What qualifications do you have to participate in this discussion?” Askhan glared at him in disdain. “For all I know, you shouldn’t even be here
“I was once her Alpha and now, I’m pursuing her again. If anything. I think I deserve the chance to be here with her. Froste answered, his voice clear
and firm.
That only seemed to piss Askhan off even further. I noticed how he seemed to be shaking with a fury I hadn’t seen in him before
“It amazes me how you can spout all that bullshit with a straight face. I was once her Alpha. Give me a fucking break” Askhan scoffed.
“Askhan!” Haelor called out to him but the prince was past hearing now.
All his focus seemed to be on Froste and I doubted anything could alleviate that anger. It wasn’t like Froste was helping matters either as he seemed to be doing a pretty good job at antagonizing the royal prince.
“I meant every word of what I said,” Froste went on, “I plan on pursuing Evelyn and making myself hers again.”
I awkwardly fixed my hair trying to still the nerves flowing through me. How could he say that with a straight face? And in front of so many other people who despised him to no end.
“You fucking asshole.” Askhan grabbed the front of his shirt.
If the prince had looked angry before, he seemed very pissed now. I wondered how Froste still managed to look calm despite all this.
“Run your mouth one more time and I’ll make sure it’s the last thing you’ll do.” Askhan’s voice held a menace that sent a shiver down my spine.
I knew he wasn’t bluffing about that. He could very easily have Froste thrown in one of the Royal dungeons and leave him to rot away.
Luckily, Cyrus stepped forward and gently pulled him away from Froste. Askhan still looked pissed and probably wanted nothing more than to be let
at Froste.
“Calm down.” Cyrus said to him as he took him to the side.
Askhan fought out of Cyrus‘ grip. He sent Froste one last glare before letting out a huff. Haelor had been silently watching the exchange the whole time. He didn’t look keen on stepping into anything and seemed rather content with just watching how everything was playing out.
As I looked closer, I noticed Evander standing closely behind Haelor. How had I missed his presence in the first place? He was like a shadow behind Haelor, one that wasn’t easily noticed by most people in the room.
I turned to Haelor. “What do you think about all this?”
To my surprise, he didn’t say anything. A part of me wondered if he was frustrated by everything and just wanted to leave. That is, until he walked
closer to me.
Before I could react, he draped his large cloak over my shoulders. I let my fingers run over the smooth fabric. It was so comfortable.
“I’ll support you in whatever you decide on, princess. Now and always.” Haelor said, his eyes holding a look of sincerity that surprised me.
He was choosing to support me on whatever decision I chose to make regardless of what it was. I couldn’t help but feel moved by his unwavering
loyalty.
Froste slowly came up to us, his eyes holding an unreadable expression. His faze lingered on the cloak draped around my shoulders.
For a second, I thought he’d say something about it but he didn’t do anything. He turned back to looking into my eyes.
“What’s your stance on this? I’m ready to accept whatever decision you come to.” Froste said, his eyes expectant of a reply from
Even he was ready to accept whatever stance I took. I let out a breath and began racking my brain. Whatever I decided would be the trajectory of our movement. I had to think carefully on it.
Just when I took in a deep breath, something shifted. There was an unusual scent in the air and I could detect it despite how faint it was.
