Chapter 102

Another of the men took his gun out and began shooting down some of the guards who had tried to escape. I put my hand over my ears, shinting my eyes when the sight became too much to bear.

After a while, it seemed the sound had stopped. I finally opened my eyes and slowly got up to my feet.

The sight left me dumbfounded. The bodies of the guards were strewn over the ground in gruesome ways.

“How could this happen? I don’t understand why you just killed them.” I voiced out.

It was hard wrapping my head around what happened. The more I thought about it, the more vivid the image of the dead guards burned in my head.

Did they deserve it? Yes. I just didn’t know how exactly I felt about the whole thing. The man had been watching me for a while before finally responding.

“The worst law in the werewolf kingdom is banishment, isn’t it?” I asked. “Couldn’t you just have given them that?”

The man seemed to think on it for a while. “We could have. But we’re not bound by werewolf laws.”

I held my breath. There was a certain glint in his eyes as he spoke. He looked like a man who had killed many before and wouldn’t hesitate to do what was necessary.

“We have no qualms about decapitating anyone who stands to affect social harmony. Take rogue wolves for example. When we encounter them, we take them down immediately because we know the danger they pose.” He explained.

I nodded my head, taking in his explanation. He was right about one thing. Those guards definitely posed a threat to social harmony. I didn’t want to think about what would have happened if the squad hadn’t showed up her.

The man had a kind smile on his face as he watched me. It made me feel just a tad bit safe to be in his presence.

He turned to his other comrades. “Clean this place up. I’ll take her home.”

“Yes, Captain!”

With that, he turned back to me and gestured for me to go first. Just as I was about to go, a thought hit me.

I turned back to look at him. “I have to go see the Elder’s immediately.”

“I’ll come with you wherever you want to go.” The captain replied without skipping a beat.

I nodded my head and let him lead us to the bicycle. The captain rode the bicycle while I simply sat on the back

The ride there was oddly calming compared to what I’d just faced now. I’d have to tell my brothers what happened when I got home.

They would definitely be pissed. I pushed the thought out of my head and focused on the wind whipping past my face.

I inched closer to the captain. “You never told me your name.”

“Oh?” He laughed. “I’m Captain Five.”

“Wait. Like your actually name is Five?” I asked.
