Chapter 526
Anathea froze for a second. She could feel Gregory’s piercing gaze on her. He wasn’t the only one. Theo was watching her too.
Even Grace and Zach had turned to glance at her.
Frowning, Hannah glared at Frederick. He was clearly stirring up trouble by bringing up such a topic during Anathea’s welcome home party.
Meanwhile, the photographer, whom Shirley had secretly arranged, quietly picked up the camera and captured everything.
Whether it was the Sinclair Group CEO’s divorce or the Lancaster heiress‘ engagement to the Harrington heir, either story was big enough to make front–page news.
Some unethical media outlets had already begun drafting stories with intentionally misleading angles, hinting that Anathea might have been two–timing.
People in the crowd began whispering. Someone even dug up footage from Natalie’s birthday party, where Gregory and Theo had each grabbed Anathea’s wrist and refused to let go.
“So, what is it? Ms. Lancaster starting a relationship after coming back, or Mrs. Sinclair cheating while still married?”
Another whispered, “If the divorce had been legit, why keep it a secret for so long? I bet she cheated with Mr. Harrington, and that’s why Mr. Sinclair divorced her.”
“She was already tangled up with other men way before. How disgraceful.”
“The Lancasters used to be the only clean name among high society. Now they’ve taken back a scandal–ridden woman? They’re going to regret this big time,” someone commented.
“Shut your mouths!”
Hannah clenched her fists and stepped forward, but Anathea stopped her and shook her head.
The more people questioned her, the less she could afford to lose her composure. If she lashed out now, it would only give them fuel to claim she was lashing out from guilt
Anathea pressed her lips together. Just as she was about to speak, Grace and Zach stepped forward to shield her.
“No matter what happened before, Nat is our daughter now Finding her again is a blessing,” Grace said while firmly taking Anathea’s hand.
“If anyone here didn’t come with genuine blessings, then please leave immediately,” Zach added coldly. “The Lancaster family has no need to associate with people who shift with the wind.”
His words rang out with such weight that the murmurs in the room died instantly. No one dared say another word.
As Anathea looked at the couple standing in front of her, a soft warmth bloomed deep in her chest. Frederick realized things were slipping out of his control. He quickly grabbed his phone, ready to message the media to push the smear articles on Anathea.
Once the gossip spread, no way the Lancaster couple could shut down the whole Internet.
But before he could do that, a tall figure suddenly loomed over him. The surrounding air seemed to darken and fill with a biting chill.

Frederick froze. Before he could react, his phone was snatched from his hand by slender fingers.
“Who is it?” Frederick turned irritably, only to lock eyes with Gregory’s icy stare.
His body stiffened instantly. He swallowed hard. “M–Mr. Sinclair.”
“Mr. Watson, if you have questions for my wife, feel free to come to me directly. I’ll answer anything you want to ask,” Gregory said flatly.
His voice was devoid of emotion, but Frederick could feel the murderous edge buried underneath.
