Chapter 525
Frederick frowned slightly. “But I heard that the heiress of Lancaster Group was engaged to the heir of Harrington Group a long time ago–that one.”
He glanced sideways at Theo.
Shirley’s face darkened even more when she heard that. “She’s got the Sinclair family, the Lancaster family, and now the Harrington family? That’s insane. How can one person be this lucky?”
“Well, luck is another story.” A thoughtful look flashed in Frederick’s eyes, laced with deeper meaning.
When he was in Grendova, he had overheard a conversation between Olivia and Anathea. He was sure he had heard Anathea say that she was already divorced.
But Shirley, who was eager to dig into every single high–society scandal, didn’t know about it, which could only mean one thing–the news hadn’t been made public yet.
Frederick’seemed to have discovered something amusing and chuckled. “Interesting.”
“What are you laughing at?” Shirley was annoyed. How could he laugh at a time like this?
“I’ve been humiliated by Anathea, and you’re laughing? Are you really my brother?”
“Calm down.” Frederick lightly patted Shirley’s shoulder. He then looked at Anathea, who was smiling brightly in front of the giant cake, and curled his lips.
“I’m about to show you a good show.”
Grace and Zach handed the knife to Anathea, their faces full of affection. “Go ahead and cut the cake. No need to make a wish because we’ll make all your wishes come true.
Anathea felt a pang in her heart because in the past, on her birthdays, Adam and Fiona had said the same thing to her.
Even though they weren’t her biological parents, over the years, they had given her all their love just the same. Unfortunately, one was now in a hospital in Castenea, and the other in a care facility in Syntherra.
She pressed her lips together, silently making a wish over the candlelit cake.
She wished that Adam would wake up and that Fiona would be healthy. Then maybe, one day, both families could sit down and share a proper meal together.
After that, Anathea gently blew out the candles.
Grace and Zach clapped for her with warm smiles, just as they had on every birthday she had before she was six, even if Anathea no longer remembered.
Meeting their gentle gazes, Anathea picked up the knife to cut the cake.
Just then, Frederick suddenly spoke up. “Ms. Lancaster, you’re celebrating your return to the Lancaster family. On such a joyous day, why don’t you cut the cake together with your husband?”
Anathea froze mid–action.
Grace and Zach looked confused. They had been living in Syntherra for years and didn’t pay much attention to online news, so naturally, they had no idea that Gregory had previously declared in front of the media that Anathea was his wife.
