Chapter 531
“Great idea.” Chloe nodded instantly. Hannah had once told her that nothing ever happened from just waiting around. Stories began when they took action.
So, Chloe and Xander began wandering around the building
Sure enough, the place was insanely fancy. Food carts rolled by with all kinds of delicate treats. The aroma made both of them start to drool.
But just as Chloe reached out, she hesitated. “Can we really just take it like that?”
“Why not?” Xander pointed at the people inside the restaurant with plates in hand who were casually helping themselves. “We take what we want to eat. It’s called a buffet.”
“But…” Chloe looked uneasy. They didn’t pay for anything.
Before she could finish, Xander had already grabbed something.
As expected, the moment he got his hands on the food–but before he could even take a bite–a staff member swooped in and caught him red–handed.
“Hey! Where’s your buffet pass, kid?”
“Pass?” Xander blinked, totally confused.
“No buffet pass, no food. What, you think you can sneak in here and eat for free? Get lost!”
The staff member shoved them roughly.
Chloe nearly fell, but Xander caught her just in time.
“How could you be so rude?” Xander was furious, but the man didn’t care at all.
Xander’s anger exploded. He hurled the cupcake in his hand straight at the guy.
“Damn it! You brat! Stop right there!” the man roared, taking off after them. Xander immediately grabbed Chloe’s hand. “Run!”
“Stop right there!”
This was definitely the most intense thing Chloe had ever experienced.
They bolted through the crowd, weaving and dodging as the staff member chased after them. He accidentally rammed into a cart, sending food clattering all over the floor.
The moment damage was done, he froze in panic, then quickly doubled down. Gritting his teeth, he pointed at Chloe and Xander. “Get those two troublemakers! Don’t let them escape!”
More people joined the chase. Chloe and Xander panicked and darted toward the direction of the conference room.
But Xander tripped on the carpet and fell hard, dragging Chloe down with him. Her knees hit the ground hard, scraping open on impact.
They tried to get up, but the staff had already surrounded them.
“Where’d these little terrors come from? Do you know how much those ingredients cost?”
“That was a crab feast ordered by a VIP! We can’t afford that on all our salaries!”

Chapter 531
“This is their fault. They’ve got to pay for it!”
“It wasn’t us! You knocked it over!” Chloe protested. She had seen it clearly with her own eyes. But now they were trying to blame everything on them.
“If you two brats hadn’t been sneaking food and trying to run, would we have been chasing you? Still trying to deny it?”
“Yeah! Kids like this need a proper lesson and then a trip to the police station!”
One of the staff reached out and twisted Xander’s ear. “Let’s see if this teaches you a lesson!”
Xander cried out in pain. His cries were so loud they drew the attention of people nearby.
When the staff saw him crying that hard, he smirked with a kind of petty cruelty. Another hand reached toward Chloe.
She tried to run, but someone grabbed her arm and yanked her back.
“Where do you think you’re going, thief? You’re not getting away!”
