Now, both sides of Frederick’s face were swollen in perfect symmetry. A smear of blood trailed down from the corner of his mouth.
“Oh no! Mr. Watson, are you hurt? I’m a doctor. Let me treat your wounds!” Louie exclaimed.
Frederick’s eyes lit up the moment he heard the word “doctor“.
He thought his savior had arrived. He rushed over to Louie while groaning dramatically. “It hurts so much. You better be gentle.”
“Don’t worry. I’m a professional,” Louie gently comforted him, then cupped Frederick’s face with one hand. ” You’ll be fine. First, we’ll clean the wound and disinfect it.”
Smiling, he glanced around, then grabbed a bottle of high–proof vodka and poured it directly onto Frederick’s cheek.
Frederick’screamed in agony, completely losing control of himself.
“Freddy!” Shirley rushed to his side and shoved Louie away furiously. “You quack! If you hurt my brother, I’ll skin you alive!”
“Oh my. Ms. Watson, is this the kind of person you really are?” Louie covered his mouth in mock fear. “I thought Dominic’s fiancée was a gracious woman.”
Shirley froze, then caught on a beat too late and tried to deny it. “No!”
But it was too late. Grace and Zach were both looking at her with disappointment written plainly on their faces.
So, all the elegance and composure Shirley had shown them before was just an act.
Overcome with anger, Grace stumbled back. Zach reached out to steady her, his hand soothingly rubbing her back. As he looked toward Shirley and Frederick, his face clouded with fury.
“In light of what you two have done at our family event today, I believe I have to speak with your father. The engagement between our families ends here.”
At that moment, Shirley’s pupils shrank. She felt like the sky had collapsed.
“No, please, no…” She clutched the corner of Frederick’s shirt. “Freddy, help me. Please say something!”
But Frederick was in no condition to help anyone. His face was burning, and the pain kept him from uttering a single word.
In the end, Zach ordered the security team to escort them both out.
“Mr. Lancaster, Mrs. Lancaster, it’s not what you think!” Shirley shouted in desperation.
However, Grace never even glanced at her again. Instead, she turned to Anathea, gently patting her shoulder. ” Don’t be afraid. As long as I’m here, no one’s going to bully you.”
Anathea’s gaze
wavered.
But she was no longer the Anathea who used to hide and cry in her mother’s arms whenever someone hurt her.
Just then, someone in the crowd stepped forward with a question. “Ms. Jacobson, may I ask whether you and Mr. Sinclair are truly divorced?”
Gregory stared at Anathea, his eyes stormy.
