Damian gestured to the couch. “Sit down, Liam.”

“What did you just say?” Damian asked.

“Your son,” Damian finished. “Leo is your son, Liam”

Damian cursed under his breath. “This just got a hell of a lot more complicated.”

“Hold on,” Owen stepped forward, blocking my path. “You can’t just rush over there and drop this bomb on her.”

I remained standing, scanning the room. Every face wore the same grave expression. Owen looked like he might be sick. Victoria stood rigid by the window. Evelyn’s eyes glistened with unshed tears.

Chloe shook her head. “I didn’t. Not until recently. Hazel never knew your name from that night. She only remembered your eyes.”

Fifteen minutes until our masks would finally, completely come off.

“They’re the same person, Liam. Hazel is the woman from the ball.”

“Because she’s in love with you,” Chloe finished. “She has been for a while now.”

“Get her here,” I said to Damian, “Safely, carefully, but get her here. Please.”

“That’s Chloe,” Damian said. “I called her too.”

I sank onto the couch, my legs no longer able to support me. “Hazel? My Hazel was there that night?”

The doorbell rang. We all turned toward the entrance.

But I couldn’t. My lungs refused to work as images flashed through my mind–Leo’s smile, his intelligence, his eyes that had always seemed so hauntingly familiar. The way he’d gravitated toward me from the first moment. The connection I’d felt without understanding why.

The truth crashed over me like a tidal wave. My son. I had a son. The little boy with the infectious laugh and curious eyes–my eyes–was mine.

Joy coursed through me with such intensity I thought my heart might burst. The woman I loved had been the one all along. The mother of my son–sons, soon–was already in my life, already in my heart.

I stopped, suddenly remembering something important. “Wait, she’s been seeing someone. That guy–Jeremy. Scarlett’s brother.”

“She doesn’t know,” I realized aloud. “She has no idea I’m the man from the ball.”

“Found who?” I asked, but deep down, I knew exactly who he meant.

Victoria nodded in confirmation. “It’s over. It was always just business.”

“That Hazel is the woman I’ve been searching for. That Leo is my son.” I stepped closer. “What I want to know is why you never told me. You’ve known who I am this whole

time.”

Fifteen minutes until my world would change forever. Fifteen minutes until I could finally tell Hazel the truth about that night, about who I was, about our son and the new life growing inside her.

My stomach dropped. “And?”

I watched as Damian answered the door. Chloe entered, flanked by two women I recognized as Hazel’s friends Scarlett and Thea.

Chloe’s eyes locked with mine, widening in understanding. “You know.”

“She didn’t know,” Chloe said softly. “It was just a name she loved.”

“She’s coming,” Damian announced, hanging up his phone. “Fifteen minutes.”

“They’re both fine,” Scarlett assured me. “But she’s scared, Liam. She thinks you’re engaged to Victoria. She thinks you’ll hate her for keeping Leo from you.”

“I know,” I confirmed. “All of it.”

“Carefully,” Evelyn cautioned, “She’s been through so much, Liam.”

Damian nodded, already pulling out his phone. “I’ll arrange it.”

“Why the hell not?” I demanded. “She’s carrying my child and doesn’t even know I’m already Leo’s father!”

I stopped, realizing what I’d revealed. “Hazel’s pregnant. We’re having another baby.

“I found out last week,” I admitted. “She hasn’t fold me yet. I’ve been waiting for her to come to me when she’s ready.”

“I’m not blind, Chloe. I know the signs.” I ran a hand through my hair. “Is she okay? The baby?”

The room went deathly silent.
