154 Confessions and a New Beginning

Afterward, we lay tangled together, my head on his chest, his fingers tracing patterns on my back.

“Higher, Daddy! Make it super tall!” Leo squealed, handing Liam another colorful block.

“We can move in tomorrow,” I decided suddenly. “Your place is bigger and has better security.”

The emotion in his voice made my chest tighten. Liam stood watching Leo sleep for several long moments before quietly joining me at the door.

“Show me,” I challenged.

“When are you and Leo moving in with me?” His tone left no room for negotiation. “Or I can move in here. Either way, I want us under one roof. Immediately.”

“And you?” he asked, his voice dropping lower. “Will you be thrilled to have me around all the time?”

The conviction in his voice made me shiver. This was the Liam I’d fallen in love with –

confident, determined, and fiercely protective.

“Your turn,” he said quietly. “You and Levi?”

“When it comes to us, yes,” he agreed unapologetically. “I also want to get married.

Soon.”

For hours, they played together – blocks, toy cars, even an impromptu wrestling match that had Leo shrieking with laughter. I hung back, watching this miracle unfold before my eyes. The man I loved bonding with our son, making up for lost time with a fierce determination that brought tears to my eyes.

“Speaking of family,” I began nervously, “we need to tell my parents about you. About

everything.”

In answer, I leaned forward and pressed my lips to his. The kiss started soft but quickly blazed into something more urgent. Liam’s arms wrapped around me, pulling me onto his lap.

“I’m sure,” I whispered, pulling him down to me. “I need you, Liam.”

The confession stung, but I appreciated his honesty. “Thank you for telling me.

Leo clapped his hands when the tower remained standing. “You did it!”

I shook

my head. “We kissed once. Nothing more happened. I couldn’t go through with it because I was still in love with you.”

“I’d do anything to protect what’s mine,” Liam said, his voice suddenly serious. “Which reminds me – we should talk about the Clairemonts.

“They’re going to be shocked,” I said. “Especially finding out Leo’s father is suddenly in the picture after three years, plus a new baby on the way.”

I blinked, surprised by his directness. “That’s a big step.”

For the first time in years, I fell asleep completely at peace, knowing that tomorrow would mark the first day of our new beginning.

“Not yet,” he said with a small smile. “When I propose, you’ll know it. But I am making my intentions clear. You’re mine, Hazel. You and Leo and this baby. We’re a family, and I want to make it official in every way possible.”

“What’s that?”

“Together,” I agreed, closing my eyes as exhaustion overtook me.

“If we go any higher, buddy, it might fall,” Liam warned, but carefully placed the block

anyway.

“So demanding,” I teased, though my heart raced at his words.

“He is,” I agreed. “And he adores you already.”

Family. The word hung between us, warm and promising.

“They know about Leo,” I whispered, voicing my deepest fear. “Isabella saw his picture

on my

desk.”

“He’s perfect,” he murmured, slipping an arm around

my waist.

My hand instinctively went to my still–flat stomach. Our second child, created during our brief reconciliation before everything fell apart again.

My stomach tightened. “What happened?”

Without hesitation, Liam stood, lifting me in his arms. He carried me to the bedroom, kicking the door shut behind us. His mouth found mine again as he laid me on the bed with surprising gentleness.

Hazel’s POV

My body tensed instinctively at her name. “What about her?”

We retreated to the living room, settling onto the couch. The day’s events had left us emotionally drained but happier than I could remember being in years.

Our bodies found each other with familiar ease, moving together in perfect rhythm. There was an edge of desperation to our lovemaking- months of separation and hurt being healed through touch and whispered words of devotion.

“When we were broken up, I slept with her once,” he admitted, his eyes never leaving mine. “It meant nothing. I was drunk and miserable without you. It was a mistake I’ve regretted ever since.”

Liam’s thumb traced circles on my palm. “I need to tell you something. About Victoria.”

The last thing I felt before drifting off to sleep was Liam pressing a kiss to my hair and whispering, “I love you, Hazel. You and our children are everything to me.”

Liam’s expression grew serious. “And about the baby.”

My eyes widened. “Are you proposing?”

“We’ll face them together,” Liam promised. “But there’s something more important we need to discuss first.”

“I don’t know,” he admitted. “But I won’t take chances with my family’s safety.”

“Are you sure?” he asked, hovering above me. “With the baby-”

“No more running,” he said softly. “From now on, we face everything together.”

“I’ve missed you,” he breathed against my mouth. “Every inch of you.”

Despite everything, I laughed. “No murder necessary.”

Liam’s face lit up. “Tomorrow?”

“So they’re both gone?” I asked, hardly able to believe it.
