I Was the Stepping Stone novel Chapter 84

Chapter 14

Andrew rushed into the dessert shop and tremblingly embraced the girl in white, saying, “Katherine, listen to me, I never thought of divorcing you…”

“Sir, you’ve mistaken me!” The girl in white anxiously pushed Andrew away, but the man held her even tighter. “I won’t make a mistake, you are my Katherine!”

“Can you come home with me, please? I have been on the verge of breaking down these days without seeing

you!”

The next second, he was hit by a flying fist. “Where did this drunkard come from? How dare you come and harass my girlfriend, let go of her immediately!”

“I won’t let go, this is my wife!” Andrew’s eyes turned crimson as he angrily glared at the boy who had hit him, and he shouted, “Get out of here right now!”

The rushing police officer pulled Andrew aside and said, “Mr. Thompson, please wake up. This girl is not your wife, she has gone missing. Do you remember?”

Andrew tightly grasped the hem of the girl’s clothes, his expression wild and pained. “Katherine, those people came to grab me again. They forced me to drink medicine and even used an electric baton to hit my head. My head hurts so much, can you please massage it for me?”

“Don’t go!”

“Mr. Thompson, Mrs. Thompson has already left,” Billy supported the staggering Andrew. “She has closed all the accounts, it’s impossible for her to come back.”

“You’re talking nonsense!” Andrew, in a drunken haze, raised the wedding ring on his ring finger and said hoarsely, “She said, even the Grim Reaper can’t take her away from me, she will love me forever!”

Andrew randomly pulled out a stack of bank cards from his wallet and stumbled in front of the onlookers,

saying, “Has anyone seen my wife?”

“Bring her to me and I will give you one million!”

The onlookers were dumbfounded, and there was a lot of discussion.

“Mr. Thompson was very good to his wife, how did they suddenly end up like this, with her even running away

from home?”

I heard that Mr. Thompson rekindled his old flame with his first love and had a child. It must be just a rumor,

right? Judging by the situation, Mr. Thompson seems to care a lot about Katherine!

“Mr. Thompson, a wealthy and handsome man, insisted on marrying a barren bar girl. It’s true love, you see,

he was so desperate that he even cried because he couldn’t find a wife!”

Andrew raised his hand to wipe away the dampness at the corner of his eye, feeling a bit bewildered.

When Sarah left him that year, he was in extreme pain and never shed a single tear.

Did he cry for Katherine tonight?

What happened?

He clearly loved Sarah, and he was only grateful to Katherine. How could he cry because of her?

In an instant, a voice sounded in his ear, “Andrew, did you really see your own heart clearly?”

“Who did you love in the end, Sarah or Katherine?”

He was once very certain about who he loved, but at this moment, he suddenly began to waver.

Everyone approached and tried to please him with various purposes, except for Katherine.

She was a safe haven for him, a place he could always return to when he was tired and weary.

No matter whether he was destitute or wealthy, she loved him unconditionally, giving him a sense of

belonging.

He thought that he only felt gratitude and familiarity towards Katherine.

But now Andrew sadly realized that she meant much more to him than that!

Katherine left, breaking his remaining sense of belonging and completely crushing him.
