I Was the Stepping Stone novel Chapter 56

Chapter 10

When Melanie arrived at City Hall, her fiancé had not arrived yet, but she happened to meet Jordan.

They were followed by a group of Jordan’s friends, probably there to show support.

When they saw Melanie appearing in a wedding dress, they simultaneously wore peculiar smiles.

Just like countless times before, I saw Melanie chasing after Jordan.

There was a mixture of mockery and disdain

Melanie knew that they definitely subconsciously felt like they were there for Jordan again.

After all, Melanie had been chasing

Jordan for a whole twelve years, enduring so much pain and

shedding so many tears, but she refused to give up.

Today happens to be Melanie’s thirtieth birthday, and she came here to pressure for marriage.

Jordan’s face darkened as he saw Melanie coming towards him in a wedding dress.

He could hardly control his contorted expression and angrily said, “Didn’t I tell you not to come and find me? Is this how much you want to marry me, even resorting to wearing a wedding dress to force a marriage?”

Melanie ignored the anger on his face and coldly said, “I didn’t come to find you.”

Jordan didn’t believe it. He looked at Melanie with annoyance. “Have you had enough of this? If you didn’t come to find me, couldn’t you find another man?”

Melanie was convinced that she had deep feelings for him and couldn’t live without him.

Jordan’s friend looked Melanie up and down contemptuously, saying, “I can’t believe my eyes, there’s a woman so shameless. She even forced him to get married right in front of City Hall.”

As time passed by, minute by minute, Danica should be arriving soon.

Jordan was deeply afraid of the two of them meeting, so he quickly let go of Melanie’s hand and whispered, “If you know what’s good for you, you better leave now! Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude!”

Melanie took several steps back before finally standing firm. She lowered her head and stared absentmindedly at her bruised and swollen wrist.

“Today was my thirtieth birthday.”

“I know, you just want me to marry you on my thirtieth birthday, but didn’t I tell you before, the company is in its initial stage and I don’t have that idea…”

“But I couldn’t wait any longer,” Melanie lifted her head, her eyes filled with nothing but tranquility.

Jordan didn’t marry her, so her fiancé wasn’t him either.

But when these words fell into the ears of Jordan and his friend, it was Melanie pleading for Jordan to marry

her.

Jordan’s face turned cold and he said, “Melanie, do you understand human language? I already said, today I

couldn’t possibly marry you!”

“Oh my God, how can a woman have such a lack of self-respect, Melanie, you really are shameless. Jordan is also unlucky to be involved with someone like you,” mocked Jordan’s friend, even extending his hand to push

Melanie.

“If you really wanted to get married on your thirtieth birthday, just marry anyone you like, I wouldn’t marry

you.”

How could Melanie possibly go and find someone else when she loved him so much?

Jordan thought firmly, so he didn’t mind using harsh words to provoke her.

One of the men who had just humiliated her, watched the scene and sarcastically whistled.

“Melanie, why don’t you marry me? Although I was a bit of a player, I was really good in bed.”

The low-class yellow joke made Melanie’s face instantly turn cold.

“No need, I already have someone in mind.”

“He just arrived back from abroad and just got off the plane, so he should still need some time.”

As soon as Melanie spoke, Jordan’s friends burst into laughter.

“Does this person really exist? You like Jordan so much, would you marry someone else? Could it be that you’re making up lies to deceive people?”

“Haha, at that time the groom was nowhere to be found.”

“I can’t believe it, Melanie was able to pester to such an extent.”
