Chapter 86
“That’s enough.” Andrew finally lost it. He grabbed Emily’s hand and flung her sharply to the side.
Everything in Emily’s hands went flying, and she hit the ground hard.
Andrew’s expression was stuck in anger while panic and concern flickered in his eyes. He thought, ‘I didn’t push that hard. Why did it look so bad?’
Andrew stepped forward, trying to help, but Emily dumped the rest of her things onto the floor without even looking at him. “Go ahead and check. See if I stole anything from you. I don’t want to be blamed again if something goes missing.”
Andrew stopped in his tracks. They were standing face to face, but the emotional distance felt vast and impossible
to cross.
Andrew felt disappointed and helpless. “Emily, can’t you just stop doing this? Why do you have to make such a mess and embarrass the whole family? Do you know what kind of damage this could do to the company if the press knows it?”
He felt that maybe it was because he spoiled Emily so much that she turned out so stubborn and immature. He thought maybe that fall earlier was just her playing victim.
Andrew’s face darkened. Back then, no matter how mad he got, he would just pinch her cheek gently as a punishment. And every time Emily screamed, he would worry he had gone too far, never once suspecting she was faking it.
Emily had given up on the Bennett family a long time ago, but Andrew’s words still stung. She sneered and said, “I didn’t know I had the power to cause so much chaos in the Bennett family.
“Rest assured, Mr. Bennett. I won’t come back or even mention your name outside, so you can stop pretending you want me here. I know you hate me.”
Without another glance at Andrew, she bent to gather her things and slowly stood. However, as she turned, she froze. There stood Bob, who was supposed to be at the hospital with Charles.
A jolt of panic shot through Emily. Instinctively, she hid the bag behind her back and glanced past Bob. Gale, Lucas, and Lydia were all there, but not the one she was afraid to see.
Bob knew exactly who she was looking for, so he said, “Mr. Charles Bennett couldn’t leave the hospital, but he was too worried to sit still, so he asked to come home to see if you’re doing well.”
Had he not returned today, he never would have known that Emily was being thrown out of the Bennett family. For the first time, Bob felt a twinge of resentment toward those people.
He thought, ‘Even though they were not related, they lived together for so many years. How could they just kick
her out?’
